nope it doesnt matter what you wear

It's an informal sort of affair.

So... who else was severly unimpressed?

wow, i didn't expect that many people to come, more than half were indian

"more than half were indian"

HAHAHA...

Hey. I'm a junior and I'm working really hard to get into the Sophie Davis program. I have a 97.28% G.P.A. I didn't take my SAT's yet and I'm still waiting for the results of my PSAT's. I'm currenty taking AP Chemistry, American History, and Writing. I also take physics and Math B. I attended the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine, I volunteer at my local hospital. (Help in ICU). I'm in the H.I.V. Awareness Club, and the National Honor Society of High School Scholars. I am one of the top players on my lacrosse team, and i also play volleyball. So far....do I have a shot?

Well....it comes down to your SAT. You're doing well but there's no def answer yet.

In what range should I shoot for?

1400-1600 CR/M combined

also, watch your regents scores. At the open house, they suggested that bio, math b, chem, and physics all be over 85. If you can try for the Queens Bridge program.

That's pretty high for SD which has a mean 1283 admit. ACT is far more important for SD, at least this is what SD students have told me.

Anyways yeah I was dissapointed by the open house. I thought they would talk about things that we care about like the type of proffesors we will study with and the research oppurtunities that will be presented. Not starting our own clubs. I am wholeheartedly underwhelmed.

I'm still a little confused on what things carry more weight in our apllication. I've met kids with mid 1500's and high gpa who didn't get in and kids with average grades get in. At the open house, I think they said 50% application and 50% interview.

makshim, at the open house, did you ask about what you were interested in knowing? I'd be very surprised if they did not answer questions like that...

Did they change the policy? When I applied, the ACT was only a placement exam that you were required to take after you were accepted.

shawn829, there isn't a set formula. They probably look at everything a couple of times... just put forward your best presentation of yourself. :)

No, I did not. And am at fault for that. But why they chose to speak of "starting your own club" rather than things that are pertinent to the actual core ideas of the program is confusing.

I was told you have to take the CUNY math test after getting. Also at the open house, i felt that many questions were repeated and only a few were well thought out, those mainly coming from parents. Some answers to questions were kind of vague especially regarding the Queens Bridge program. When asked if students in this program were given peference, the answer was no. But kids in this program are guaranteed an interview, which is a huge advantage over other kids who have never even heard of it.

makshim, you can find some answers to your questions at the school's website. But there's not much published material about student activities, so maybe that's why they focused on that...

Speak up next time, or call the admissions office and ask. If anything, they should be able to point you to specific people who might be able to help. :)

does anyone know the act code for SD? i can never get hold of someone when i call them and i cant find it on the website.

it's not on the ACT website?

i cant find it on the website. should i just send it to CUNY?
