sophomore classes-too much and should do honors algebra two?

english honors
science research honors
AP us history
chem level one(btw i'm not a science person so level one to me is honors)
alg II level one
band
spanish III

the thing is i have no idea if apush will be a huge impact on gpa. I want to go to Upenn, what is some advice for me?
Plus I want to ask if I can have my math teacher change level to honors. I love math. I was recommended for honors but my midterm got a B+ which is a huge low as I get A's. So Level one :(.

How should I approach my math teacher? I don't want to sound pushy, and I take after school KUMON (torture), but im doing alg. two stuff now so I know some background stuff already. I'm almost done-starting precalc soon.

But if I did honors math, will this impact gpa, grades, and myself (need hw time, time for sports, and sleep 7 hrs at least).
I know APUSH has alot of writing reading and memorizing...
spanish, band, and science research are easy.

im worried about english, alg II HONORS, APUSH, and chem which I need to try hard in. Should I do honors math?
How hard is it really? How fast pace? Is it easy to get or what? I aced algebra 1 in 8th grade, but it was level one, the top level, so it wasn't "hard". Honors is harder. But I heard it prepares you for critical thinking stuff. I don't know!!!

I'm an above average student. I work hard at times, and I good at memorizing. I love english and math (weird combo...usually math and science right?) and I'm weak at science although I like biology but I do bad on tests (but I still have 4.0, and our teacher is crazy, he gives us ap or honors stuff as quizzes sometimes!) I like history, like the action, but some stuff is boring. Like revolutions-awesome, napoleon awesome etc. I like drama in history lol.

But obviously not perfect. Although I would like to try to be almost perfect.

Thanks for your help!
PS. So, how to ask a math teacher who recommended you level one to change to honors? Is it kind of rude...? Hurry, course form due monday!

Ask in person.

And if you want to get into UPenn, take the hardest available classes to you.
Also, it’s pretty early to be pressed on a college, especially since you (presumably) haven’t went on any campus visits. Do you have a specific reason for wanting to go to UPenn?

It’s probably because of the business program there. That’s why I have UPenn in my mind.

Result: I asked in through email. My teacher said to meet afterschool, which I did. He said I am totally honors alg two material, but he couldn’t put me in honors because of my average currently (and it was beginning of new marking period, and I got a A- on a recent quiz)…so he told me to ask my guidance, who said since I’m waiving up, I have no guarantee of getting spot, but if there are open spots, I can take it… fingers crossed.

@sluchy523: Yep, it’s early. But you know how parents are.
@BipolarBuddhist: I actually have the same reason to going to UPenn-their business program is reallllly good. In my high school, we don’t have AP Micro/Macro, and classes like that-so I doubt it if I’m Wharton material.
I know my school has little elective classes like accounting and personal finance. That’s it. Oh, there’s a marketing class, but it is only a one year class so I don’ think it will help me much.

UPenn for Wharton. They have a great business program. 2nd is Northwestern University- also great business program.

If you’re interested in business I think it’s a good idea to have a strong background in math. You all ready know some of the topics being taught in the class, so I say take the honors class.

Why are you taking a class called “science research honors” if you don’t like science and aren’t even in honors chem?

@mathyone
I took it because it was honors class and also because you do interesting science experiments. I love projects!
I don’t like science because I’m not good at inferences with things I learn. I’m conceptual at science…
