I won't get a chance to dorm my first year do to financial reasons. But I still want the college experience so now I'm wondering how is dorming as a sophomore. I want to get into the greiner hall but if not anywhere in ellicot works. Are there dorms for just sophomores and is it weird being a sophmore still dorming? And are the sophmore dorms less friendly? I heard freshman dorms everyone is open while sophomore dorms are the opposite. Thank you for your help.

It is too late to live at campus for the Fall.

this is for next year I don’t know if I should live on campus or off.

please help

Good to start making inquiries now. They have a lottery system for upper classmen partially based on how long you have been on campus. Best to talk to your peers (and link up with a next year sophmore who will have the extra year on campus seniority you will not). Others probably have more knowledge, I let my son negotiate this aspect (with mixed results).

On or Off campus - total different cost structure. On campus you pay for room for the school year, most off-campus seems to be a 12 month contract, so you pay even if you go home for the summer. You can eat cheaper when you buy the groceries, but the rent can be more expensive. Roommate selection if you get a house is critical to your happiness so be choosy if can.

good luck

For Greiner, it’s completely based on luck. You essentially get a lottery number from, say, 0-1000 and the lower it is, the better chance you have of getting Greiner. Personally, I don’t find Greiner all that worth it. It’s very expensive and the rooms are still small.

Should I dorm sophmore year if I didn’t sophmore year? Or is it too late and I might as well get an apartment.

I’m transferring in as a sophomore and wondering the same thing if its worth it? Best dorm room styles?
