Sophomore Housing Assignment

Just got my sophomore housing assignment last night, finally, but the housing code is 171 and does not match up with any buildings on their list. The rate code is X, if that helps anyone. What building is this?

Thinking it may be a leased property that is not on their list… 171 Hemenway??

Yeah I think you are right it is a leased property. That’s what I got as well except 165 Hemenway.

And was your building code 165? Anyone know about leased properties? Are they furnished? do we get huskycable and internet access, or do we have to pay for it ourselves?

http://www.northeastern.edu/reslife/upperclass/leasedprops.html</a></p>

Furnished but you gotta set up/pay for cable and Internet on your own.

Are you a transfer student?

Yeah my building code was 165.

We were told there are 4 major differences between leased properties and regular on campus housing.

Northeastern does not own the building therefore there is no proctor or swipe entry into the rooms.

We have to pay for our own cable and internet. They said that it would be about $35 a month. So if there are 4 people living together that is $35 a semester.

There is a price difference. The price is lower because we are not given some of the amenities that we would get if we were living on campus.

The mail service is not through resmail.

I think there are a ton of people who are not transfers getting LP housing because of the housing shortage.

No, I’m not a transfer. I’m a rising sophomore that Jan-started last year. Both my roommate and I got crappy lottery numbers. I think being in a leased prop won’t be so bad. It may not be as nice as some dorms, but you get some freedom with no proctor or swipes.

thanks everyone

Edit: I got the price for a studio double but I’m assuming they just give us the lowest price b/c we kind of get shafted. It is only me and one other kid so I’m hoping its atleast 1BR if not 2BR. badass, what price did you get and is it 1BR, 2BR, studio?

I got a rate of $3330 and ours is actually 3 bedroom (2 singles, 1 double) however no living room because there are 4 of us living together.

If it’s a studio double, then you might actually be living in a studio… In some leased buildings (and some WV buildings) there are rooms where there is no bedroom- just some beds in the place that would be a living room (aka, called a studio). A double studio would mean there are two beds in it. Last summer I had friends who lived in a leased triple studio.

wow, that would kind of suck. It would be tough getting used to that going from our 1BR double in coventry. Oh well, i’ll hope for the best. thanks everyone

can anybody tell me about life in coventry?

looks like i’m living in a double bedroom enhanced loft?
