Sophomore Thread

AAAHHH!! I JUST TOOK THE APUSH EXAM TODAY!! lol. that was fun. This year has been great. cross country and track have been a birch but have been so fulfilling. i never thought i could handle 3 honors and an AP class. now that the year’s almost over, i guess i did do it after all. hahah. 010’ BAABBBBIIIIII!!!

Watching the juniors take AP exams makes me nervous for next year.

However, our class (2010) has been referred to as the favorite in our school. Actually, there’s a lot of smart sophomores (and seniors, come to think of it). More than the juniors anyway. Most of us take classes with juniors. I guess it’s an every-other-year thing.

well, this is a little delayed, but…HOLLA 2010!

thelittlemermaid: I feel the same way watching the juniors and seniors at my school freak out about AP exams! It makes me nervous for them (and vicariously, myself)!

junior year objectives:
-be more competitive in EC’s
-gain leadership positions
-ace all 7 APs (unlikely)
-2300+ on SATs (unlikely)

I kind of wish this was the end of junior year right now, so that I could just move on the senior year and be done with it.

7 APs? I’m only taking 2, which is what my school offers for juniors. Senior year almost all my classes should be APs, however,so that should be…scary.

On a similar note I got a letter from the school last night regarding text book purchase and exam fee for AP US History. Apparently there’s a summer assignment. Ugh.

Class of 2010! We’re almost halfway done baby!

Sophomore year was ok I suppose. 2 APs and 1 honors wasn’t as bad as i thought it would be…really. All you have to do is study and you will be fine. Next year though…3 APs and 1 honors (which is supposed to be the ninth circle of you know where- or is it the eight circle. i can never remember) will be a pain in my behind…plus SATs the graduation test (my school’s way of figuring out if your stupid or not even though we’ve been in hs for three years already) and all my other stuff. Great. But I do have some goals for next year:

 • Don’t put off studying until the last minute (like that will ever happen!)
 • Have fun with life! 20 years from now you won’t remember taking that test but you will remember missing out on that party because you were studying too hard for that test.
 • Laugh more. Life is not as serious as i think it is sometimes.

It’s the ninth circle, I believe.

Next year will be hard, but I can’t wait. School does make me happy, even if it stresses me out. I like the people there better, I guess. I like learning something to get somewhere in life.

stop sucking at stuff

more nethack

just study math

in other words do what makes you happy, because you have the freedom to

My Goals:

I want to start modeling underwear, hopefully on a Michael Jordan commercial where I walk out onto the scene in my Hanes and shout out to Mike, “Hey, I’m wearing your underwear!” in front of a bunch of girls.

Seriously though; I’ve been told I’m really attractive all year after a little transformation over the previous summer, and attractive people use their looks for money, right? Lol, this is what happens when intelligence meets looks.

Anyways, on a more realistic note:

I want to get BIG! I’ve been working out and gained quite a bit of muscle, but I’d like to use my summer to work out more and take advantage of some whey protein.

Get a job, hopefully where my Spanish will be put to good use.

Get my license and a car(won’t happen until the end of my junior year)

Make the varsity basketball team.

Relax more and enjoy life.

Get some sort of business going.

Keep it Latino.

Get some more Mexican chicks; I went on an Asian and Puerto Rican streak this year.

Hey 2010 people! I’m already done and dusted with soph year here in India (junior year begins next month - eeks!). So, you guys started thinking of where to apply yet? Any preliminary ideas?

My goals for next year:
-pass all courses…do well in all courses.
-Get better at volleyball
-get the medal-thingy at the end of the year for Philosophy class; that would make me the happiest
-get medal thingy for AP English; that would also make me very happy
-learn to drive well
-be more outgoing and “leader-like”
-become editor in chief of the school paper, unless they decide not to have one (like they decided this year, although apparently I’m “assistant editor” and I don’t know what that means)

hpa 10, could you tell me a little more about HOSA? It sounds interesting but still don’t know exactly what it is. Is it a leadership program that you do for a short period of time or…? thanks in advance

Two more years and I will be applying to:

Amherst
Brown
Harvard
Loyola College in Maryland
Santa Clara University
Stanford
UCD
UCSC
UCLA
University of Southern California

Accomplishments this year:

 • debate clerk
 • 233 on PSAT’s
 • kept up my 103 weighted
 • survived the hell that is sophomore year

Regrets:

 • not taking AP Euro (but I couldn’t, since we were forced to take a particular science course, GeoPhys H)
 • I’m glad I didn’t take chem over the summer, so I couldn’t have taken AP Bio anyways. Those are the 2 AP’s sophs can take, and only if they do summer work.

Goals for next year:

 • do well as debate president
 • translate my PSAT score to an SAT score
 • survive 5 AP’s
 • keep up my 103 weighted (though AP’s are weighted more, so it’ll be easy)
 • survive the hell the is junior year
 • socialize more

Next year is going to be interesting to say the least…;)

My goals:
-Survive without a lunch period :frowning:
-Get a 5 on the AP Chem exam
-Continue my streak of good grades
-Try to have a little fun…
-Win the Mock Trial County Championships (This is a big one because I will be an attorney for the first time)
-Get into the state band this year on either clarinet or tenor sax

Why are all you guys giving fun such a low priority? There’s more to life than college…

Agreed.

I don’t really have specific goals, but in general, I’d like to:

-Do well in my first AP class.
-Continue swimming.
-Get out of my writer’s block. My poetry has sucked recently.
-Visit some colleges, study for SAT (IIs), etc.
-Have fun (and most of the above are fun for me).

OK, here I go:

Have a blast - senior year is murderous here in India
Finish up the documentary that a bunch of us are making
Play a lot more tennis (and bump up my ranking)
Participate in the school play (I’ve never given theatre a shot)
Do well in the SAT
Go to a whole bunch of MUNs and debate like my life depends on it (I love doing this!)
Plan a big sweet 16 bash. Oh yes, it’s coming up in 6 months.

I plan on:
-Making Varsity Tennis
-Do well on all my AP’s.
-Build up my GPA
-Get some leadership positions in clubs
-Get a car.
-Better time management
-Resume Violin (stopped last year, want to restart)
-Do well on the SAT.

not enough nethack

the future looks grim

I plan on doing insert in junior year:

Making districts for tennis and getting another “Athlete of the Week” honor in local newspaper. w00t. while fighting for captaincy in senior year (only seniors can be captains in our school)

Bringing sexy back

Survive 5 AP classes + (maybe) a self-study

Enhance the sexy that has been brought back

Win state piano

Share the sexy

Move a few more spots into the top 10 of our class

PSAT Merit Scholar. + SAT

Learn to effing drive already!
