Sophomore Thread

I took the SAT in march, I think I'll study for it next year...

I'm taking the SAT in October, although I've taken it twice already; once in 7th grade and once in 8th (yay for CTY nerds), and I'm taking the subject tests in Spanish, Math II, and Bio this spring :(

Oh, right, took it in 8th grade with no prep for CTY: 570 CR, 590 M, 610 W.

Since then, if my practice tests are right, I've gone up 150-200 in CR (yay for reading!), about 50-60 in W, and 10 in Math :]

soph year is okay. somewhat better than freshman year because you get a better idea of the people in your class and you don't try to fit in as much and such plus you get your own entourage by now. but i miss freshman year where there is not so much work and you don't spend as much time studying and stuff.

yeah I probably should have taken the ACT or SAT this year but.....
theres always next year

so for the SATIIs what are generally considered to be the easiest (in terms of prep/taking specialized classes)
Right now I'm thinking of taking Lit/Math 2/USH (since I'm taking AP Lit and USH and I'll be in pre-calc next year, OT: yeah only about 10% of the kids in my class will take calc so taking pre-calc Junior year is considered advanced....)

hey is anyone taking IB next year?

probably not...

@sushant: im smelling an AP/IB battle here, which I don't wanna join.

Sophomore here!

Do any of your schools run a trimester schedule?

nope, we have a semester schedule

2010!

I'm a sophomore, this might be the last year I have that much time to come here, so many things to do in my junior and senior year.

I'm a sophomore, this might be the last year I have that much time to come here, so many things to do in my junior and senior year.

^same......

what are y'all doing this summer?

How do you like the semester schedule?

I like having trimesters because you actually don't have a few classes for about three months. So, if you have Geometry, you get a three-month break from it during one of the trimesters. Unfortunately, trimesters don't really allow teachers to go into depth and we usually end up having to really rush towards the end of the year. We might be switching to semesters during my senior year which shouldn't be so bad.

Almost done! Just over 30 days left.......

I don't even care about school anymore... I've been counting the days till AP tets and haven't given a single thought to finals or the end of school...

I kinda feel like I have a slight case of sophomoritis... it just feels like none of the classes I am taking this year matter.

@ sushant269: yeah i'm doin full Ib. is anyone doing that? where are you guys applying? any ideas?

My school has a semester schedule. And next year I'm taking AP classes. My school doesn't offer IB.

As for where I'm thinking of applying: Brown, Barnard, Boston College, SUNY Geneseo, Catholic University, and a few others.

Yeah...my school has a trimester schedule.
