indicates a weighted course with an A equaling 5 on the 0-5 weighted scale
I want to balance the amount of unweighted and weighted classes so I can have a chance at a higher weighted gpa, more weighted is fine I’m willing to work harder and had all As last semester
Current:
-Spanish 2
-English 9
-Honors Geometry*
-Honors Chemistry*
-3D Design and Animation (fine arts elective)
AP Human Geography*
Honors Trigonometry*
Honors Algebra 2*
crazy on math because I have a different path
Next year planned schedule (will tweak based on advice given )
-Spanish 3 or Japanese
-English 10 Honors
-AP Calculus BC (skipping precalc by taking final exam)
-AP Chemistry*
-*AP US Government
-PE (1st sem) and Health (2nd sem)
maybe astronomy as a science elective
considering *Honors Physics (2nd science class b/c i want to take AP Physics C mechanics Junior year and C E&M senior year)
My school has 8 classes in a schedule max (more than 8 if taking before and after school courses)
I don’t want to have 2 off periods (or 6 classes) because that would be a lot of time for me as I only need 1. The ideal schedule would be with 7 classes per semester but if I want to push my self which I kind of do I can take 8 classes without any off periods.
Whew! That is a very packed schedule you have there! Here are my thoughts:
What do you mean by "off-periods"? Are they like study halls? If so, I would either take 7 classes with an off-period or just take 8 classes. The point I want to make here is that make sure to challenge yourself but do not burn yourself out. At the end of the day, your health and well-being are more important than the number of classes you take.
skipping precalc and going straight to calc bc sounds like a stretch to me; I have a friend who skipped precalc but taking the final over the summer and he got a 50 on the first calc AB test. Honestly, if you think you can do it because you are passionate about math, then by all means, take it but just remember that it is going to be a bit of a challenge.
yes, I recommend that you take honors physics!! in my school, honors physics is not a prereq for ap physics but because it is not a prereq, sometimes students don't have previous experience with physics and just go right to AP. therefore, in my school, ap physics is the class where people are happy about getting a 60 on a test. in conclusion, I recommend that you take honors physics especially if you want take the ap physics c courses.
Well, that’s all I have for you! Good luck with the rest of the year and I hope you have a successful sophomore year!
@davidyekwonkim by off periods I mean if you don’t have a class for that period, it’s your free time to study, leave the school to do your own things (as long as you’re back ontime for the next class), or hang around on campus. Thanks for the advice!
Don’t change languages. You should at least get through level 3 in one. I don’t see biology. A lot of colleges like to see bio, chem, and physics. I see no reason to try to skip pre calc.
I don’t think that schedule is impossible, but I would NOT recommend skipping Precalc. That is a horrible move. Astronomy is kind of a waste of an elective though. With those classes and a jump like this, I would take a study center, at least for the first semester.
