sophomore year schedule-too much?

Hi. I am a freshman in high school. I did not take any AP classes this year, and I really regret it. I have a 4.0 GPA with 2 honors classes, honors earth science and honors english 1. For my sophomore year, it is too much to take AP human geography and AP US Government? My schedule next year would be honors geometry, honors english 2, honors biology, AP human geography, and AP US government, is this too much for a 4.0 freshmen? Please respond with tips and tell me what you would do/what you did!

*My freshmen year schedule: algebra 1, honors english1, honors earth science, world geography, world history 1 ((i do not feel challenged))

For the AP classes, it depends. When do students usually take those specific classes at your school? I’d talk to your history teachers as well, to get their recommendation.

I noticed you aren’t taking a language. Competitive colleges want four years of one, so the sooner you start the better. Having more classes could also help you feel more challenged as well.

oh! i forgot about that. Im in spanish 2! and AP human geo is usually taken as a freshman, so i feel that it could be a little lighter than the other offerings. AP gov is typically taken as a sophomore so the challenge should be good. About taking more classes, I only listed the classes related to the topic i guess. I already took team sports, drawing, and photography 1. I am now also taking team sports again.

thank you for the feedback, I appreciate it a lot!

to clarify, I have a schedule of 7 classes out of 8 possible.

it looks fine to me

thanks. do you know anything about the courses? heads ups?

Are you interested in human geography? Depending on your goals and what your school offers, you may want to consider doubling up on math with algebra 2 and geometry.

I definitely have more interest in human geography than i do in just world geography (drawing maps and learning capitals). I love the suggestion, though. Math is not really my thing, but I will consider it!

In my freshman Human Geo class, the first 3 weeks were spent getting quizzed on every country, state, and province of the world, and half of our quarter final was naming random countries and cities. Maybe my Human Geo teachers were just odd, but… Maps are definitely a component. Maps are only really covered at the beginning, though , and never really gone over in that manner again.

that should be easy. I am in a world geography class now where i have already learned that

AP Human Geog is a “gateway to Ap” class so it should be easy. AP Gov is good, but it typically is a semester class, will you take a half course to go with it (Comparative Politics, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics)?

As for your freshman year, can you switchto honors algebra and honors history?

@MYOS1634 i wish i could switch to honors alg and history, but it is too late in the semester. at my school, AP gov is a full year class. thanks !
