bring a plastic bag for your boots. youll leave them outside (dont worry, no one will steal them)

the sisters will take your coats when you walk through the door. i dont remember if they do it at all, but they will give you some sort of tag/number in exchange for your jacket to make sure you get the righ tone back

nightynight...yes! that is perfect.

and im posting now oldfort :)

CB, pledging is so much fun for girls...rushing a little stressful, but if you go in with an open mind and just go with the flow, it is actually kind of fun

you will have time to go to lunch. usually you will jsut go to appel with your rho chi group or meet up with your friends. lunch is 70 minutes long

for round 3, would a nice sweater dress be okay? i wouldn't really consider it "business attire," but i don't have a business skirt and it is definitely more formal than black pants.

This rush process happens second semester of Freshman year right? Is their any steps that need to be taken first semester to make you a more viable candidate for a sorority?

No rec letters required for Cornell. Rush is intense(time consuming and emotionally draining) for one week, but it´s nothing like Southern schools or some state schools. It´s not as much of who is who, but more about fit.

Rush starts a week before Spring semester classes start. You will be able to check in to your dorms early. Do have your clothes ready, as discussed on this thread. I know my daughter´s house is usually very warm, assuming it is the case at other houses too, no need to wear warm clothes, but rather have a heavy coat. I would recommend wearing clothes you would be comfortable/attractive/appropriate in, otherwise it would just add to your anxiety.

Many Cornell students do not join the Greek life and still have very fulfilling social life, but my daughter believes it has enhanced her college experience.

oldfort: everyones house is always so warm, but like you said, all girls rushing should wear winter coats and gloves. also, on days to wear skirts and dresses, word of advice: PUT SWEATS OVER IT! walk around in sweat pants and take them off before you get into the house

I don’t know where y’all are getting your information, but you don’t ever wear jeans during rush week. Attire should include cute dresses, preferably designer, that vary in formality according to the day. Rush week is a very special time. You should be putting your best foot forward and showing respect for the sorority by dressing nicely. They will not appreciate you looking like you just stepped off the street in your everyday clothes. It is always better to overdress than to underdress.
