So ive been on the fence about applying for Wake just because im not sure I can get in RD and I was not able to apply ED.
gpa: 4.27 weighted
act: 31
AP scores: AP lang (5), AP Bio (3), APUSH (5)
taking 6 APs this year, so 9 overall in high school and all honors since sophomore year
ECs:
-Girls Who Code Summer Immersion 2017 (Free 7 week program for coding, had to apply to get in)
-Built By Girls Wave (program where im matched with a mentor from major tech companies)
-Varsity Tennis for 3 years, captain 2 years, first singles 2 years
-Varsity Track 1 yr
-Harvard Model Congress 1 yr
-Red Cross Club, Green team, key club
-NHS 2 years
-worked with independent candidate for state governor as part of a teen outreach group
volunteer:
- to be honest, I have only volunteered at fundraisers for my town to fill my requirements, but I havent started gofundmes for drowning kittens nor have I devoted my time to cooking a thousand meals for elderly homeless people. Im thinking this will be a major downside of my application.
I know my test scores and gpa are lower than the avg. wake student. Throughout my four years though, I think i showed significant improvement and progression as a student, as I only took 2 honors classes my freshman year, then progressed to all honors my sophomore year, then all honors and 3 APs my junior, then all APs as a senior. My grades have gotten significantly better as well, as I went from a few Bs as a sophomore to all As as a junior. I also think I show a significant interest in Computer Science that I hope will translate to admissions officers.
Please chance me!! I dont know if its worth it at all to apply. And any tips from those who have gotten in in the past through RD would be greatly appreciated as well! Also, with my low score of 31, would it be worth it to send it? or should I just omit it?
