Hi!
I am just wondering what the dimensions for a south quad single are like? I am currently trying to decide if paying the 2,000 extra dollars in loans would be worth switching out of a markley double to a south quad single!
Don’t do it.
why?
Markley is the best freshman dorm. Not so much aesthetically. But socially, that’s where you meet the most people. It’s all freshman. Students WANT Markely.
Why would you want to have a single as a freshman?
I’m told that the dorm swapping pages for this year were filled with kids wanting to get into West or South quad and out of Markley and of course North. The West and South Wuads have bigger rooms too. One kid offered $10,000 and another was offering a kidney.
Markley is far from Central Campus and if you’re in LSA, then most/all your classes are on Central Campus. And I hear the South dining hall has the best food.
You have to decide what’s more important to you. It’s like deciding whether you prefer a McMansion on two acres or a small, needs-work house in a community-minded, friendly neighborhood with sidewalks. Well, not quite. But you get the idea.
BTW, it’s against the rules to offer money for a room swap.
Great analogy. Personally, I’d want the dorm closest to the Big House, and eat with the athletes, but that’s me.
I would assume they are like the singles in East Quad? I was in a single for orientation, and the room itself was about 2/3 the size of a standard double room
