What do I need for the south west air lines, I have a school ID and will have a ticket.
Any recommendatio about first time going on an airplane.

Maybe a passport…

Also, you’ll want to bring an MP3 player.

You’ll mostly be watching movies though, and if you have a window seat, you’ll see some wicked sights.

Hey,

I was on one of their planes to Florida last summer. Sorry I don’t remember much but I know I slept more than half the plane ride(I only remember being awake for when they took off and landed). I’m guessing you’re flying to another state so it shouldn’t take that long. I don’t remember there being mini tv screens to watch anything on but an MP3 player sounds good. Just make sure you prepare well for your trip and pay attention to your flight information and where your plane will be for departure. Hope you enjoy your flight!

Oh, also, make sure you don’t bring to many things in a carry-on.

Space will be critical when you get fidgety after a couple hours of sitting in a seat

Southwest Hint

Seating is done by groups with Group A being the first group allowed on the plane, getting the choice seats and bin space (after preference seating) Anyway get your boarding pass online ASAP (starting 24 hrs from departure) to get a good seat. GL

If you have a smartphone, you can put it on airplane mode and play games. You could also bring a book.

^Just be sure to keep the smartphone in airplane mode!

Be prepared for security lines and all the details about what not to bring and how to get thru. It’s a pain!

You need to check if a student ID will work as a legal ID for the airline. I thought it was DL, passport or government issues ID"s. So check this now.

I don’t think you’ll need a passport. Southwest doesn’t travel outside of the US. I don’t think those Boeing 737’s could make a tans-Atlantic or Trans-Pacific flight haha

Be careful. I heard that the SouthWest flight attendants took up the smart phones and iPods of some travelers because they were playing when they were not supposed to (mid flight). The travelers didnt ever receive their devices again. If I were you I would just try to sit comfortably but I’d keep a keen eye over my stuff to make sure it wasn’t stolen. It happens frequently on SouthWest

You will need a government-issued picture ID on any airline; it’s a TSA requirement. A driver’s license is sufficient for US travel, although of course a passport works too. A student ID does not.

If you don’t have a driver’s license or passport, you should be able to get a government-issued non-driver’s ID. Check your state’s website.

A passport is just a legally accepted form of government ID - you can use it, rather than a DL. It’s not about foreign travel necessarily.

True. But remember - you can use a passport when a DL will do. But you can’t use a DL when a passport is required. I think that’s all people were trying to say - it’s not required on Southwest, but it is acceptable. A student ID is not.

Student103, how old are you? If you’re under 18, you don’t need any identification to fly, but if you look old for your age, you might find it goes more smoothly if you have one.

If you’re 18 or older, the TSA requirements for a government-issued photo ID will apply to you. See this link for more information: [Acceptable IDs | Transportation Security Administration](Identification | Transportation Security Administration).
