Spanish 3 Pre AP junior year?

Hey all! I’m transferring back to my old high school for junior and senior year. However, my old high school doesn’t offer one of the electives I signed up for ( Aforementioned schedule here: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/high-school-life/1851975-junior-year-schedule-yay-or-nay.html ) and I’m wondering what I should change it to. (NOTE: I don’t know what I want to major in yet! Kinda leaning towards STEM/premed track but I’m really unsure.)

I know if I’m aiming for selective universities I should take Spanish III, however I’m worried that I’ll be lost in the class after a two year gap between Spanish II and Spanish III. Spanish is spoken a little bit at my home though and mostly by my grandparents, and there’s also Duolingo so I might be able to pick it back up quickly.

However, there are some classes I’m really, really interested in that they offer at my old high school, specifically Creative Writing, Newspaper, and Drawing II.

Creative Writing/Literary Genres are half credit courses that would be really fun and interesting. I’ve been really eager to start writing more creatively and this course would be great with assisting me in that.

I took Journalism I freshman year and I really liked it, but I was dumb when selecting my schedule the next year and I didn’t bother signing up to Newspaper I/Journalism II when I really should have. Newspaper would be really fun for me but it’d be incredibly time consuming, and unless I dropped either AP Stats or AP Bio I’d be stretched thin between clubs, ECs, and academics. I like to think I could do it all, though. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve always had an incredible passion for drawing and I’ve filled dozens of sketchbooks since the 2nd grade. I dropped Drawing II this year to make room for Digital Art and I really regret it because Digital Art is barely (my definition of) Digital Art, it’s just constant book work with no creativity involved whatsoever. I could restart my Art sequence and maybe take AP Art Studio senior year.

Any suggestions? I guess overall I’m asking whether or not I should be practical with my scheduling or pursue my interests, haha… Thank you for reading!

Bump.

Is there a reason why you’re transferring back ?
How many periods does your high school day offer ?
What would your schedule look like at that new/old school vs. The current one ?
Do you live near a community college and does your district offer dual enrollment ?

Full disclosure, I originally only transferred to the school I’m currently at because I wanted to be with the people I was friends with at the time. I don’t talk to them anymore. The school I’m currently at isn’t in my attendance zone and my parents are wasting gas money getting me there (20 minute commute vs a 5-6 minute one, lol.) There isn’t a lot keeping me at my current high school except maybe ECs, but my NHS membership is going to transfer over and my old school has a Key Club, so there are two major ECs that’ll maintain consistent membership. Anything else I’ll probably end up doing on my own.

Both my current high school and my old high school offer 7.

The schedules will look the same, take away Tech Desk, because it’s only offered at 2 high schools in the district. The only potential differences would maybe be me not being able to be in every AP I want, but I’m already signed up for a crap ton so that doesn’t really matter so much, I suppose, and the same sort of scheduling issue could’ve happened at my current high school as well.

I’m signed up for dual credit for this summer, I’m getting DC Macroeconomics and DC US Government out of the way.

@MYOS1634, sorry, forgot to mention you.

Remove AP stats, it’s clearly an add-on if you are taking pre-calculus pre AP, which makes you look like an AP junkie /someone whose course selection doesn’t reflect careful consideration of his interests but simply piling up AP 's.
Take Spanish 3H instead.
Then for your last period take whichever journalism class sounds best.
Save creative writing for senior year.

@MYOS1634
Then should I save AP Stats for senior year along with creative writing? I really am interested in Statistics but I guess it’d be better to take Spanish III for junior year than stats.

You need to take Statistics in college, rather than the watered down HS version, especially if you’re interested in the subject. But yes you need to take Spanish III and… if possible, Spanish IV.
