Spanish Immersion Programs

Hello. I really want to learn Spanish through an immersion program, but not through a study abroad. Could someone recommend some good summer language immersion programs abroad that are not affiliated with any universities? I would prefer to be in Argentina or Chile and be away sometime from June to August. Gracias. By the way, I know zero Spanish(have taken 6 years of Francais).

There's a company called Don Quixote (I think the website is donquixote.com, but i'm not sure) that has language schools all over Spain and Latin America. From what I've read, their prices are reasonable, and the quality of the courses is generally very very good.

Thanks! Je t'adore!

I was pleased with a Spanish immersion that I did through Ameri-Span, which has schools all over S and Central America.

Wow. I just looked into Ameri-Spain, and the Buenos Aires one was very cheap(less than a $1000 for a month.

Northstarmom, where did you live during your stay?

i did a spanish imersion program in the Andalusia region of Spain last year. The program was "El Instituto San Fernando", and it was a really great experience getting a feel for spanish culture, family life, and city life.

Wow, I'm glad I read this thread. I lived in Mexico when I was nine, and kids pick up language fast, so I came home a year later pretty fluent. It was difficult not to forget Spanish, so now I can hardly speak it. The way spanish courses are structured in high school doesn't really work for me, and I'm not fluent enough to take "spanish for spanish speakers." But I'm glad there are immersion programs like this that are in the summer!

i want to go to that but my parents say "they kill Americans in Spain"

.......why?
