okay so i wrote this speech for language arts. its meant to be said at a high school graduation, but i haven't graduated yet. so just tell me what you think, okay? oh and i don't actually go to a springfield high. i just made that up.
Class of 2012, today is our day. Our day to start and to finish, to begin and to end. Weve survived, thrived, and excelled in our environment. We spent four years as members of the tight-knit community we call Springfield High School. We arrived as freshmen, nervous and uncomfortable in our new school. We came back as sophomores, used to the environment and more confident than before. Junior year we prepped for college, and prepared ourselves mentally to step up to the challenge of ruling the school. This year, senior year, has been a blur. SATs, College Visits, admissions and rejections made it speed along.
Now were here, in our robes and hats, ready to begin the first days of the rest of our lives, and we need to embrace every moment of it. Every success and failure, every victory and defeat, we need to take them and learn from them. Apply them to make our world a better place. I believe Springfield High was the best place to learn these lessons.
Now its time to finish our high school years, to graduate, to let it come to an end. To say farewell to our classmates, teachers, and beloved school. Right now is also the time to say hello. To welcome college and all of the freedom and joys that come with it.
Farewell high school, these past four years have been great. But we have to go, to move on to bigger and more challenging things, to once again become small fish in a big pond.
2012, we have power, and we are our own future. We decide, because our lives are what we make them. We can solve the issues in our world; we just have to commit to solving them. So I wish you luck, 2012, in whatever path you take. Its all up to you.

DO you go to a college prep school. Cuz if not, the following may be innapropriate in your speech:

jsmall is right. one of my friends said the same thing for his first draft for his speech but he had to change it so that he would stop sounding elitist (this coupled with several other things)

so instead of just talking about going to college congratulate those who have the courage to join the army and those who are entering the job field already give equal respect to everyone.

But that is if you dont go to a college prep school or you know everyone in your class is going to college.
