Im pretty good at spanish, but i don't know anything about the SPN 1134 course, is it really hard? Does this look like a good schedule for a second semester freshman?

SPN1134 is an accelerated Spanish course. I was enrolled in that last year, but opted out and took the one a level lower (SPN1130 & 1131), depending on your goals, there is no point in making the language requirement more difficult than it has to be. The thing about the Spanish courses is that it is usually 5 days a week with mandatory attendance (such a PITA). Plus, you have some type of exam like every two weeks whether it is an oral, written, or subject material exam. It was by no means ‘difficult’ but it was annoying having to do all the HW and consistently prepare for the exams, especially when you have other classes that are of more importance (I was pre-health, so I pick and choose my classes wisely to put me in the best position towards maintaining a good GPA). But if you are passionate about Spanish, I say go for it, if not, I would get into the beginner Spanish class so the likelihood of you attaining an ‘A’ is greater. It is a 5 credit class after all, I wouldn’t want to get a ‘B’ as that would bring your GPA down.

What’s your overall goal at UF and your goal with Spanish specifically. This seems alright to knock out a foreign language requirement but you need some Spanish in HS to take this so you probably already have the language requirement done. Are you trying to tank the placement test to drop down a few levels for a few easy As? There are probably even easier A’s if so. Majoring or minoring in Spanish isn’t optimal if your goal is to be able to speak it for a job or for fun/curiosity/bragging.

I took up to Spanish 3 in high school but my last two teachers were horrible. I wanted to take beginning Spanish but the guy outright refused because I took Spanish before. I want to take because it would be good with my career (nursing) but I don’t want it to affect my GPA negatively. Help?
