Well, here's the bottom line from my stugo teacher.

I either drop tennis which takes up meeting time after school, or I lose the club officer position I earned this year.

What do I do? I love playing tennis, but I also don't want to give up the position I worked hard for. I guess this is a thing I have to decide for myself..but what would you do if you were in my place?

Also, for those who are officers of clubs that meet after school, how do you balance sports and the meetings, if they both start at the same time and the sport meets everyday to practice?

I'd keep the tennis. You did it first, so you shouldn't just quit. Keep your committment to it. This happens a lot here, and you have to choose because sports are 3 hours after school

I didn't do Tennis first...I was in stugo since freshmen year, while I joined Tennis my sophomore year. Also in Tennis, even though I love the sport, I'm not especially good at it...so I doubt I'm making Varsity this year.

Most of the members of one of my clubs had problems like that. They talked it over with the President and the advisor of our club, and they were allowed to leave early. They had to show up for atleast five min., though. If they left when we were about to discus important issues, someone would make sure they would get the information. This is the first year of the club, so it wasn't really organized, but hopefully there will be many changes. Hopefully, good changes.

I think it is possible to balance your sport (tennis) with your club, it's all a matter of talking it over and alerting other members of the club, so that they don't count you as an inactive member, or hold elections for your position while you aren't there.

Is there any way to reschedule the stugo meeting, i.e. during lunch, in the evening or on a weekend? Can stugo still maintain an unofficial activity after school, during tennis practice, which can be led by the club vice president? Can stugo handle critical business electronically? After all, this IS the 21st century...

There will always be schedule conflicts. Adcoms will be more impressed with how you were able to resolve this particular conflict than with you just being stugo president.

SourApplezz, I would drop tennis. Since you started stugo first, I would stick to it. Tennis, on the other hand, especially since you are not sure that you will make varsity, is less definite, because you already have a guaranteed officer position in stugo.

Yeah i guess since you cant have the meetings in the morning, which is what my school does, you should probably drop tennis since stud gov prez is better than tennis scrub.
