I KNOW!!! Not to mention, I don’t even know why I keep checking the application tracking website anyway. What is it I hope to see? It’s not as if my admissions decision would show up there anyway.

AMorrison, do you know how long it took for them to accept your application after you took the GSAE? I just took mine this past Sunday but had applied for ED, or EA, or what ever they call it.

M.C.:

There was that rumor floating around CC in the spring that if you get in, you’ll suddenly have access to the financial aid page: that you won’t get the mysterious Code 1A. That’s where I’ve started pouring my energy…that and looking at my phone for blocked numbers calling.

Oh, that’s right. I had forgotten about the whole financial aid link scenario. Maybe I’ll go back and read through that all again and live vicariously for now through those that eventually received their acceptances.

I already did that this week. :(

I applied ED, had all my materials in by March 1 except for the GSAE. I sat for that on the 13th, and was accepted on April 1.

It’s not really “news” but hey, it’s something to me!

I went ahead and emailed gs-admit because, despite being fairly sure that it was not a cause for concern that my transcripts and recent GSAE were not showing on the application tracking site, I’m desperate for every possible reassurance that no “i” is left undotted, no “t” uncrossed, you know?

I just received this response:
“Thank you for your email. Our offices have received your high school and
college transcripts, and we are in the process of grading your GSAE from
earlier this month. I have updated our online tracking system to
reflect the receipt of your transcripts, and you should be able to see
these changes by tomorrow morning. Once your exam is scored, we will
update our tracking system once again. I apologize for any confusion,
but if you have any additional questions or concerns, please feel free
to contact our offices.”

Just an FYI.

That’s excellent, M.C. Thanks…well, at least we know that they’re still grading them. Also nice to know that they’ll update the site once the scores are in. Hopefully a phonecall from a blocked number and a large package via FedEx will be coming soon.

On that note, I saw the FedEx guy pulling into my apartment complex today. I’d be lying if I told you I didn’t sprint up the stairs after he left only to find…nothing except my welcome mat.

I’m glad that they have everything you sent in. I’m always skeptical when it comes to things like transcripts, having had my high school fail to send anything on two different occasions, even after lengthy, friendly conversations with the registrar’s office there. (I finally called a friend of mine who works there and she personally tracked down my information and sent it in)

One concern I’d like to address with the AdCom is this:

“I’m concerned you might not accept me. What can we (notice the ‘forced teaming’ with the use of the word ‘we’) do to minimize the chance of that happening?” I doubt, however, that they’d be terribly amused.

AMorrison–thanks for the post. That helps me analyze the timeline for ED applicants a little better.

No problem! I’d like to caveat that timeline by saying I think I was one of the first of my round to be accepted, so if it takes a little longer in any of your cases don’t be discouraged :).

BB, I think your plan with the adcom is a solid one. Let them know that not getting in is a real concern; it wouldn’t mesh well with your future plans. Maybe they’ll be accommodating?

On an application tracking note…
As promised, my transcripts have appeared on the site. In addition, my older-than-eight-years SAT score is now listed in the Tests section. (Probably because it is shown on my HS transcript). So now I’m going to keep checking for the GSAE to show, which will mean they’ve scored it. Once THAT happens, I’ll start obsessing on a higher level, pacing the floor, staring at my phone, sleeping by the mailbox… all that healthy behavior.

WHhhhhaaaaatttt? My H.S. transcripts have my SAT scores (which were older than dirt…far older than 8 years old) attached and though the site shows my transcripts as being recorded, it hasn’t shown my SAT at all!

Of course it’s possible that they were so awful (that’s what happens when you accidentally skip a bubble and then you have to go back and move everything up one row in the last five minutes of the test) that the AdCom thought it was a joke and left them off the page.

Ok, back to pacing.

Ouch! The dreaded skipped bubble. No fun.

When I returned to my desk today after lunch, I noticed that I had missed a call. It was from a BLOCKED CALLER. Sigh. I know, it’s still too soon. But nonetheless, I listened to the voice mail with extreme anticipation before deleting the annoying sales call.

Still not seeing the GSAE posted on my application status. Has anyone heard/seen anything?

Wondering now if checking the bubbles on my name and SSN should have been 68 times instead of just 67.

I forgot how miserable the waiting is. (sigh)

Mine still hasn’t shown. I wouldn’t worry about it. I bet it won’t even show up until after they’ve already called you.

Sadly, there’s no GSAE showing up for me yet either. I had a scare today, however, when upon checking my mail, I found an envelope from Columbia. I knew, of course, logically that it was far too soon for me to get a decision from GS. But you never want to see that little, standard-sized envelope when you’re awaiting an admissions decision. Scary stuff. It turned out to be a thank you letter since I had attended an information session a while back.

Yes, the waiting is rough. Stay strong!

Thanks, GTW.

MC–That’s horrible.

hey guys! Did you see the financial aid link that appears in the application tracking website? What is it?
Has someone received any positive news from columbia’s offices?

The Financial Aid link is live, but it’s been there since I applied.

All attempts I’ve made to access it gives me an IA error code. I was informed by the GS Admissions office that financial aid information via the link is unavailable until you are accepted.

Its presence there is not indicative of acceptance or rejection.

Still haven’t heard anything as of 1020 am Eastern Time.

Good luck…keep us posted!

Same here. Ditto everything BB said.
