Any GS applicants have any news?

None here. I haven't had a chance to call. If anyone has called then let me know so I don't bug them twice. ;-)

Got a phone call today. Accepted! Incredibly happy.

Good luck to everyone waiting on a decision.

I saw white smoke coming out of the chimney of Columbia

caladan: dream on

No phone call for me.

Come to think of it, my cell phone # has changed since I applied 10 weeks ago. Maybe the rest of us will get an email in the next few days.

Congrats though, dude. And congrats to anyone else who made it.

babouche: ?

Thanks john, hopefully you'll hear from them soon.

could any one post their stats here. I am a potential GS applicant for the spring08 and would like to know which stats are competitive for admission.thanks.

I enjoyed that.

Damn! I just called GS admissions and they told me that everyone would know by December 15th.

That's cutting it pretty close. That would give me zero time to move to NYC.

=-(

I don't get it. Why don't you guys believe that Caladan got accepted?

Did I miss something?

Wow!!! a black limousine pulled over my driveway and a guy in a black suit handed a thick envelop from Columbia while singing a telepgram.....is that weird or what?

I see your joke.

Some GS applicants do get a phone call once accepted. I don't know this from experience but I've read this in previous posts.

So is isn't out of the question for Caladan to have recieved an acceptance call.

Correct me if I'm wrong about this.

babi,

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. You do know that GS admin office != CC admin office... right?

If you do a search for GS threads you'll see that admits are sometimes called with the decision. Others just receive a package in the mail. An old gf learned of her acceptance by mail while a good friend got a phone call as well.

Good luck with your ED app!

I haven't heard from them either. Last week (11/27), I did call to ask about the completeness of my application. They told that it was complete, and that I should get a response sometime within 1-2 weeks time(12/15). I'm not sure if I'll get in or not. I'll prepare for the worst if I'm rejected. From there, I'll apply to UPENN's College of General Studies. Hopefully, I'll have a better shot getting into the university with them than at Columbia GS.

Geez. I'm ready to get this over with so I can stop worring about getting in. . .

. . .and start worrying about how I'm going to pay for it. =-0

are there any admits for the Fall 2007?

Accepted... very happy. Let me know if you have any questions.

Hi CAtoNY,

When did you turn in your app??

Congrats. CAtoNY, can you share your stats? how long have you been out of school, and in what criteria do they put the most weight on for the GS applications, GPA?Essay?

no word yet...i submitted my app on March 1.

I am anticipating hearing any day now...

has anyone else heard one way or the other yet?

or has anyone been called for an interview?

I submitted my app in early February. I do not know what criteria they put the MOST weight on, but my stats are: 4.0 GPA from community college, extensive professional experience, been out of HS for 14 years. I hear they place a decent amount of weight on your life experience, the reason you want to attend Columbia, etc, so write an honest, concise, thourough essay. If you don't have good (or any, as in my case) SAT's to submit, my advice would be to take the GSAE at Columbia. The test was not very difficult, particularly if you are a little "rusty" in math. It will also give chance to see the amazing campus if you haven't... killing two birds with one stone. Doing well on this test, or having good SATs, definitely has some weight put on the admission decision.
