Spring 2015 Applicants Unite

@emart95 @ebs1995‌ Thank you both :slight_smile: Good luck to you two!

@Madzzz thank you! Still nothing in the mail. Early yet and the weather is bad so could delay mail delivery I suppose. My thought is I wouldn’t get it today anyway.

@‌emart95 the date on my letter was November 18th if that helps. Bigger packages might take longer ;)

I just send email to FIT if my decision mail is sent out. Hopefully receive a helpful answer other than your decision will be available by december 1st!

@Madzzz that’s true but I think the mail person was delayed because of the weather this morning. Had a crappy start when I decided to quit my crappy job (dealing with a lot of emotional and personal issues so I decided to leave). Then felt refreshed about leaving. The mail finally came and my mom decided to run outside and check. She came back with all little envelopes in her hand. I was like, “anything for me?” and she lifts up her shirt (only my friggin’ family) and the big “Congratulations” envelope falls out of her shirt. So I’M IN!!! Sent off my form and deposit!!!

@emart95 hahaha that’s awesome!! congrats :)

@Madzzz‌ Thank you! Hope you do what’s best for you and you get in the next time you apply if you choose to do so!

@emart95‌ You said this was your 3rd attempt right? That gives me a lot of hope towards giving it another shot or two. Thank you :)

@emart95‌ omg!!! Congratulation!!!

I got my letter today , I didn’t get in :(

@Iamjenn‌ Thank you so much! And @Madzzz‌ Yes it was! Very stressful because a lot is riding on it. Your confidence is very fragile. Even more so when you pass up the opportunity the first time like I did. I’ve always done well in school despite my horrible test-taking skills so the GPA was probably the most important part of my applications to FMM and AMC, when I got into both. You really can’t give up if this is what you want. It’s definitely possible for you to get in in the future, but they will be looking for improvement on your grades so that is the major thing you should be focusing on. I know it’s easier said than done, but completely possible with a lot of hard work. You don’t have to be a genius to get in, but they do take your grades and application seriously. If you were applying to a design major, your GPA would probably be okay as long as your portfolio was great but the business school applicants are at a disadvantage when it comes to that. So, just keep working hard. Things will fall into place as they are meant to so you can’t worry too much. Just keep striving.

@emart95‌ May I ask what your current GPA is? (Sorry if you’ve already posted that)

@Rikki1‌ I’m sorry! It sucks but you can’t give up. If fashion is what you love and what you want to do, you need to pursue it.

@Rikki1‌ what major did you apply for?

It’s okay thank you for the encouragement ! @emart95‌
And fashion design

@Madzzz Of course! My high school GPA was 90 unweighted, 95 weighted, and my GPA from my first year of college was about a 3.4. There are people who can get in with a 3.0 GPA, so you don’t have to set your goal for a 4.0. According to College Board, students’ GPAs are all over the board. Most of them fall between 3.2-4.0 however. So I suggest trying to strive for that.

Sooo I got my rejection letter

@AlexxNicole, sorry to hear that. Try and keep your head up!

@emart95 Congrats! You finally got the letter :smiley: Happy for all of you guys who made it, and for the others, don’t give up :slight_smile: I emailed them, and they wrote “Your decision letter has not been sent out yet, it will be sent out around December 1.” So frustrating! What was your GPA, for the ones that got in? Mine is 3.5, I only got A’s and B’s in my classes, BUT I did very bad on math and got a D on it. Do you think that my bad math grade can stop them from accepting me into FMM? :(

@Myaa90, Not at all. I did horrible in math in high school when I applied for FMM and I still got in, and I had a 3.5-4.0 (depending on the scale) GPA.
