hey @danycam congrats on your acceptance! may I ask where are you from? I´m international as well (from Argentina) and I did not receive any email yet.

@emart95 I called them yesterday, and they said 43k was an overestimation, just to make sure that the international students are going to be able to pay the tuition and other stuff. Thanks for the concern I wish the best luck for you

Hey there, @limjuliana. Congrats on the acceptance! 43 grand is the amount we need to verify to be eligible for the I-20, not the exact cost for a year. The cost depends pretty much on your housing option. I’m glad the counselor makes it clear for ya. Did you choose your dorm yet?
@emart95 You applied 3 times, it’s straight up dedication right there. I hope the school appreciates the time and energy you invest in this quicksand trap of a waiting game. They need to call dibs on this wholehearted applicant, otherwise it’s their loss. Good luck buddy!
@Madzzz I second emart95 on the adult student stuff. Guys, I’m 21. I have my editorial job and my own business in my home country but I wanna go to FIT to do luxury PR. Your age definitely won’t affect your chance. And don’t let the GPA stuff boggle you too much. If your essay is strong, I think it’ll make up for your grade.
@mmhh789 Hi ya, I’m from Vietnam. I hear from current international students that some get the email but some only have the packet fedex to them. So don’t worry, they’re still sending out decision letters. What’s your major?
I feel you guys, waiting is nightmarish. Before the email, i’m like an unplugged device whose battery is at 7%. I hope everything turns out peachy for everyone on this thread.

@danycam I applied to AMC! what´s yours? I really hope to get the email or packet soon, the anxiety is killing me!

@mmhh789 Same major. The deadline for tuition deposit is Nov 26 so you might get your decision next week. I wish you all the best.

Hey everyone!

I applied to FIT for Spring 2015 too! I applied for advertising and marketing. Has anyone received a letter yet? I called the school around October and the guy on the phone said we should hear back early December. I’m so anxious!!

Also, when we log into our MYFIT, the email icon on the top right - can you guys access it? I have no idea how to log in… Do we get a log in if we get accepted? I’m so confused. I tried calling admissions and asking and the guy wasn’t helpful at all and transferred me to the tech department and then I got hung up on… :/

@xokikixo To access your FIT email just try signing in with your [first name]_[last name]@fitnyc.edu and the password should be the same as your MyFIT login. Hope this helps!

@limjuliana, great! I’m glad you got that straightened out and you have some sense of relief when it comes to financials. And thank you! @danycam Thank you! I hope they think like you! Considering how big of a “steal” FIT is financially considering its education quality, notoriety, and connections for me (in-state student, but still in debt anyway) it’s just one of those things that I can’t NOT apply. Also considering the fact I was one of those kids who knew I wanted to go there since I was little, I couldn’t pass it up. And the first time when I did get in, I did pass it up. Go figure. I just thought at the time I wanted to go to a normal liberal arts school with a campus in a town with a real college feel and I was against going to school in NYC. Now that I got a taste of that, I realized a very career-focused, almost streamlined education in a vibrant place (NYC always being my favorite place to be) is what I need so I’m hoping. And if I may ask, do you know if that November 26th tuition deposit deadline is for all students or just international students? I can’t really find a deadline for domestic students anywhere because their website is laid out so poorly.
And @mmhh789, @xokikiox, @danycam, and possibly others, if we all get in and go, we’re all gonna be classmates us AMC kids lol. Fingers crossed for all of us and sending good vibes to our email inboxes and our mailboxes! [-O<

@emart95 that would be great!! Let’s hope we all get that “Congratulations!” Email/mail.
Sending good vibes to all @xokikiox @danycam !

@danycam thank you! I am glad 43k isnt the exact amount I did some research about the dorms at FIT on the official website, and the prices seemed all similar. But I was interested in the alumni hall, since I dont wanna spend more money with the meal plan! what do you suggest?

@emart95 @mmhh @ebs1995 Good luck to you guys too!! I hope we all get in!!

@ebs1995 I tried that several times and it doesn’t work. That’s why I’m so confused. I thought maybe if accepted they send you a login with your admissions letter or something. Should I call and see what’s wrong with my email? Does anyone else have this issue or can you all log in?

@xokikixo @ebs1995 I never even thought about trying to go into the email until you guys mentioned it so I tried it and it didn’t work for me either. My thought is you will be able to access it once enrolled. And @limjuliana, while the meal plan is an added expense, consider whether or not you plan on working while you’re in school. If you aren’t and aren’t getting money routinely from your parents, a meal plan is probably a good option for you. Eating out and groceries can be REALLY expensive in NYC. If you’re working and want to cook in an apartment, you should be okay. If you don’t intend on working, I would suggest getting a meal plan no matter where you dorm, even though I’ve heard the food is pretty limited and not that great. Also, if you live in a suite/apartment with a few other girls and you like to cook, you guys could all pitch in together to buy food and cook together. That could save some money if two of you do the shopping for the week, then the other two do the shopping for the next. Cooking will definitely save you some money because dining out will literally eat up all of your funds.

@emart95 yes! the reason why i am not planning on gettig a meal plan is exactly bc i wanna cook and spend less money possible :)

@limjuliana Then definitely! Find yourself a job/paid internship and choose an apartment dorm that you’ll have to share with several people. That will knock the price down and food expenses will be coming out of your pocket, not out of the pocket of whoever is paying for your tuition.

@emart95 yeaah! the problem is that inrernational students cant work in the us, so i’ll try to find a job on campus bc i know that’s ok

@limjuliana I didn’t even think about that! Ugh, that’s tough. Finding on-campus jobs in general can be really tough, especially in the spring. If you can somehow get a work visa, I would consider it. And also, I would consider getting the meal plan for the first semester until you can find something.

@emart95 Thank you for trying too. I feel better knowing that I’m not the only one with this issue. I only tried logging in because if I recall correctly, after submitting my essay it said all future emails will be sent there so didn’t know if I had to log in now or when accepted. But like you said, I think it will be valid if accepted. :)

@xokikixo Thank you! I sincerely hope you get in also. This is my 2nd time applying so emotions are running high. Since you were not successful with calling them, I would email them and tell them you can log into your MyFIT account but not into your FIT email account. Let me know how it goes!

@danycam Thank you! and @emart95 at first I didn’t have access to my email but I emailed the tech people at FIT and they helped me out. You should have access to your FIT email as an applicant.

Good luck everyone!
