@88donothing: I emailed them a copy directly about 9PM one night and asked for a response if I had mailed it to the wrong address. (I was a little confused about the “proper” email address but it was correct: undergradapp@cornell.edu) I received an polite email response before 9AM the next day confirming receipt and stating that my app was being forwarded on to CAS for review. Did you mail a physical copy, or email a pdf?

@hugoblack: thanks for the response! So that’s 2 accepted to CALS, and 1 accepted to ILR. No word from any of the other schools yet. Interesting! I was refreshing my email all day today like a fiend, haha.

My bad I posted the completely wrong numbers in terms of the quantity of applicants to ILR. Roughly 550-600 were admitted too all programs at Cornell in 2011. I submitted my mid term and am hoping for a decision sometime this week! Congrats to everyone already admitted!

@fortsibut I emailed it to undergradapp@cornell.edu as well but I never received a confirmation. I think I will email them for that as well. Thanks for your input!!

@88donothing: For sure, nothing wrong with a polite request for confirmation. It took a few days for my self service Cornell page to reflect the receipt of all the info and the fact that the file had move on to CAS for review so that worried me for a bit even though I had email confirmation. I tend to needlessly freak out over stuff like that, and a major app like this one was no exception. =) Good luck with the app, hope you get good news soon!

The glorious College at Brockport. All hail SUNY schools! (Hey, the price is right!) We have uh, snow, a lot of things that are under construction, and a pretty cool library.

I’m at SUNY Westchester CC. We have a lot of geese (legit hundreds of them that have taken over the campus), a pretty nice sized campus, and thats about it lol.

Rejected this morning by CAS. Pretty great feeling, considering how hard I worked the last 2 years for the chance to even be in a position to apply. Good luck to the rest of you.

Got rejected for CAS as well! Wasn’t really expecting anything, still waiting to hear back from other schools. I was an NYU admit for this Fall but I couldn’t afford to go. Thought I’d give this a shot. Good luck to all you guys!

Rejected from ILR, I’m actually not sad because it would have been impossible for me to have made my application any better. 4.0 GPA / 33 ACT / extremely good ECs / ten page essay specially submitted / extensive research in field. I guess this was a losing battle from day one, why do I even bother anymore Okay, I am sad… I’m probably just going to go back to sleep and miss all of my classes today.

Sorry to hear. Makes me feel a little better knowing that a really well rounded applicant like you lost out as well.

Oh well. I was kind of wary of attending anyway. With so many great students, I feel that I would’ve struggled to maintain average academic status there. I feel like it’s better to be top 10% at a good school than average or below average at a top school (for the field I want, anyway). Rejection still sucks though.

REJECTED from CAS. Well, that’s it for me in this thread guys. I wish the best for all the rest of you and that for those who also got rejected, I hope that you find yourselves at a school that you can enjoy just as much. As for me, I can only hope now that U Mich, UVA, and Notre Dame admit me.

I really dont want to make a big deal out of this because I know that there were many people this morning who got some bad news… I did however just want to put it out there that I got into CALS so I can reach out to my other fellow CALS members. For those of you who are getting some pretty painful news this morning I really do wish you guys the best and I am a really sorry because I know a lot of you worked so hard for this.

Rejected from CAS this morning. 4.00 GPA and two really strong recommendation letters. Non-Traditional currently at a CC but I got accepted to another private institution for Spring. Best of luck!

Hello all. I applied to CAS this spring as a potential computer science major, but I only began taking a computer science class this semester and had no academic record of my performance in the subject. Furthermore, I had to send vastly outdated SATs that did not reflect too well on me, despite my mathematics skills becoming much better since high school. My GPA is quite high (3.9-4.0), but I unfortunately received a non-acceptance letter.

I am doing very well in my programming class now (high A, the highest possible according to the university’s grading scale), and my professor would certainly be willing to write a letter of recommendation.

I am wondering whether I could reapply for the fall with the same application, but with clarifications, the additional letter, and so on. I somewhat regret applying for spring because I wasn’t even sure whether I would be able to move, given difficult family situations and logistics. Fall would have been more practical, but in applying for the spring I hoped to demonstrate interest. Apparently it is harder to be admitted in the spring.

I am looking forward to a response; I would certainly like to think that there is a chance. That is, a better chance, if I prove my abilities more clearly.

EDIT: It is always suggested not to include negative details in an application, but I almost think that I should have. They were integral to my decision to apply…although the academic and positive reasons were of course more important.
