Spring 2016 Transfer

I got accepted today  3.5/4.0 GPA from community college for CompEng.

Congrats @stefanm123 ! Are you already in Illinois?

@VidaMia24 Did you finish all the suggested courses from the handbook? What is your technical GPA, besides a 3.7 overall?

Hey @PitLV2109. My technical GPA is actually higher than my average though I haven’t calculated it. It should be around 3.8 or 3.9. But I also took high school college credits that likely got factored in / did some damage to my overall GPA. I’m also an out of state applicant and I’ve been out of school and working for several years. But hey, it’s hard to pinpoint the deciding factor for the denial. The admissions officers are the most qualified to decide who is a good fit for their school, so we kind of have to trust that their choice is the right one (not just for them but for us too).

Sorry to hear that. Have you been accepted to elsewhere?

Did anyone hear back today?

I’M AN ILLINI!!

Congrats @delab95!

I didnt get in but not all that surprised. I knew it was a long shot when I applied. Im going to get my gpa up during the winter intersession at my community college and then apply again for the fall.

Also congrats @delab95!!!

@crazywango let’s hope for better news from our other choices

yea I only applied to two schools for spring transfer though. I mainly just wanted to see if I could actually get in. It was good to go through the application process though. Now if I could only finish my UC apps. The personal essay is proving to be particularly hard.

@crazywango there’s a great book called the art of the college essay. It’ll help you write something authentic and compelling. I highly recommend it for your next round of applications

Hey everyone, not sure if people are still getting accepted or if this thread is even still active anymore. I am currently staying at Illini Tower, a private certified dorm ( counts as a dorm and you are allowed to live here instead of university housing). each suite comes with a full kitchen and private bathroom so it pretty nice. I am not enrolled in any classes at UIUC next semester so am desperately trying to find someone to take over my lease for the spring semester as it doesn’t make sense for me to live on campus. I already messaged a lot of you guys, but because i didn’t get a response from a lot of people idk maybe people are not interested or think i am a scammer or something idk. Everything would go through the Illini Tower management. So yeah the place is really nice and a really good location especially close to engineering quad compared to the university transfer housing. PM me if you have any question and you can find out more about the dorm on IlliniTower.net

I was wondering if anyone knows the minimum required credits to transfer with junior standing into the mechanical engineering program? Also how does does one go about alerting FAFSA about the change in institutions(assuming a spring transfer.)
Thank you!
