I checked my admission status online and it said I was offered admission to the Spring 2007 semester. I figured at first I was not offered admission for fall and was therefore given spring, however, in the mail today i received a post card that said "your application to spring 2007 has been recieved 9/29/05"....This makes me think I may have screwed up my app and asked for spring admission. I definately do not want spring and is the reason I am not enrolling. Do you think this was a mistake on my part or just a poorly worded post card? Is there anything you can do if you did screw up the application?

why would they send you that postcard today?? That is reall really really wierd. If you had made that mistake you still would have been given that post card earlier. It is like anyone else getting a post card saying that their fall 06 application had been received. I mean it is possible but i think it is just a mistake by the admissions sending out the postcard saying that.

First, if you applied on-line, go back to your application online. You will be able to see what you filled in. Go to the third tab, educational intent, and see what you did. I would really feel bad if you applied under the wrong term.

Whether you applied Fall or spring go ahead and call or e-mail admissions.

I was offered spring admission and got the postcard too. I don't think it means anything, its just the way their computer system works or something.

ya, thats what i thought. When I went to check my application status and credentials it says I had 2 applications, one for fall and one for spring. My fall had all credentials listed while my spring app only had 2 things in.

I applied for fall admission and im sure of it, however, they only accepted me for spring admission, which makes no sense. I guess because it is such a big school, they have people graduating at all semesters of the year, so there is room in the spring semester for some of those who didnt get accepted in fall. They keep on pushing the "freshman connection" program on me. is that happening to anyone else?

Ya that's happening to me. Anyway I got into Wisconsin which outranks Maryland in the department I want, and in my mind is a better school. I would never do spring admission like they want me to, and I would have chosen my safety schools over spring at Maryland. They can quit botherin me.

yah go to wisconsin guapo but really the spring thing isn't a big deal.

Why would it matter? You'll be a terp 3 months later than expected. Do a program, go to a community college and get cheaper credits. Hell, go to france and meet with all the french girls :D . Why would it matter. For all those that got this spring admission, CONGRATULATIONS! You got into UMCP and when it is all said in done it doesn't matter where(OR WHEN) you start. It matters what you do while you are given that opportunity.

My opinion.

yeah, i actually realized i just didnt like the school as much after i applied but i did consider doing a spring admission for some schools. I figured i could do some community service, leave the country (something ive never done before), or do something else productive. But it just doesnt seem worth it to me to start in the spring at a school im indifferent to which costs a lot for an out of stater like me.
