Spring Break - KP Style

Need a new thread - CG is getting ahead! The crew and baseball team usually go down to Florida for training over spring break - and the nice FLA chapter sometimes helps out. Any news? It is cold and rainy and I am thinking of sun myself.

so which is it- are you on crew or a baseball all star? Hope it's crew, because I will be the first to admitt that the USMMA HAS THE BEST DARN UNI'S ON THE WATER- BARR NONE!!!

Our daughter just got back from rowing over winter break- down in Miami- nice and tan, and the hair got blonder, and she had a blast at South Beach- do you know where KP practices? Her school rowed out of the U-of Miami's boathouse on the Indian River- not bad as along as you steer clear of the gators! They may be headed back for spring break- although they have also been known to practice at Clemson, SC, Tenn, and there is some talk about San Diego for this year. Hardly seems like work!

CGA crew is headed for Deland, Fl. the week of March 4. Should be fun for the Coasties!

Daughter's team went to Deland last year- I will ask her about it the next time she calls!

Deland:

Apparently at Deland they took off from the lagoon area-(Stetson boathouse)- there were postings all around warning them of the alligators- especially one called "stumpy"- missing a foot- who has taken up residence basking in the sun on the boathouse dock- so many days they had to use an alternative dock at the other end of the parking field and carry the boats to bypass the alligator! From there, lots of rowing on the St. john's river.

Then there was the red ants- everywhere! Warnings posted to stay on the paths!

The coach from Stetson sent our daughter's coach a whole list of the other critters to avoid as well- there are big, big (i mean big) spiders from what she remembers- had her running- and tons, tons of mosquitos-

definately need bug repellant
definately need to avoid the ants and the spiders
and you don't want to mess with stumpy- she said he was very tempermental-

oh, and Deland is remote- nothing around- nothing- unless you are headed for disney world- there is a small town, but her comment was that it was "dead"- apparently when they were there, so was Stetson!
She said to definately bring computers that can play dvd's, and bring lots of those
-very hot and sticky

-that's all she wrote folks!-

yankees....beware.....fire ants. eating pizza. typing with one hand... no kidding beware stepping near one of those huge nasty mounds.

Wrestlers will be relaxing spending spring break at the Palm.

LFWB dad has offered to pick up the tab.

Boss, if you are ever in DC or we are in NY at the same time, you're on. And your coastie too

Ok thanks and I offer you the same in CT...we have some great Italian restaurants.

I get so tired of lobster when I'm up there. My Godson's father was the XO on the USS Connecticutt and I just remember going to lobster places in the summer when we'd go visit. He's now the skipper of a fast boat out of Pearl, so I am looking forward to my next visit with my Godson.

Ha ha lobster is my fave other than linguini with clams...gee I'm getting hungry.

I find the title of this thread amusing at the moment. Told the boy about the wisdom teeth before Davygravy could tell him and just as I suspected, he went off the deep edge. Said he'd put them in Davy Jones locker and they can retreive them from there 100 years after he's dead & gone. Went better than I expected! :) I spent the better part of an hour going through any & all of the paper work I have for the Academy. Not one mention about removal being mandatory which I am assuming it may be done on a case by case basis? Just the signed waiver saying we would not hold the academy responsible for said cost if it should become necessary. Guess a phone call to officials is in order today. They have xrays up there... Think I'll call anonymously. LOL Somebody is really miffed that a planned charter fishing trip may not be happening and girlfriend may not want to see him for a few days... She'll still be at college anyway since the Spring breaks don't happen at the same time anyhow but he didn't seem to be too rational about it. I can see him in classes today:
"How many here, still have your wisdom teeth? Raise your hands!" He'll be on a mission to see if he can keep them. Sigh... what to do....

Issue settled. The academy says that they do indeed have to have wisdom teeth removed before they go to sea. Period. Well, I just can't wait to tell Jamz the good news! Wahooo! Maybe one of you guys could maybe email him on my behalf? He's gonna say bad words I just know it.

No reason he can't go fishing - after all, all you do is sit and drink beer! He can do that on pain pills and skip the beer. And what kind of girlfriend would she be if she didn't like him with chipmunk cheeks! :D
