Spring/Fall 2016 Transfer Thread

@mccombs

I’d recommend staying at your current school then applying to transfer to UT Austin. In general, wherever you choose to transfer should be the school you intend to graduate from. Admissions officers generally look for transfer applicants who offer compelling reasons for wanting to change their institution. And changing your school multiple times might make it seem like you’re not sure what you want.

Maybe your school for Spring offers a deferment option? If so you could just apply to UT for Fall and keep the other as a back up. Just my opinion.

Thank you! @VidaMia24 and I’ve heard they come out around late November/dec…but some people don’t even hear back until January

Thanks @mccombs

I know I shouldn’t be checking my status constantly but somehow knowing they’re not supposed to be out yet doesn’t stop me!

same here @VidaMia24 ! I heard on November 15th around 8 pm that night decisions are posted for 1st round people with more than 30 credit hours.

Is that reliable, did someone just call it admission office? I am waiting so inpatienly. Lol

@leonXiao
What the admissions office says is never reliable. :stuck_out_tongue:
@longhornlegacy
What does “1st round” mean? Is it the people who applied earlier?
Also, does anyone’s Mystatus still say “Complete/On Time”? Mine does, perhaps because I applied so close to the deadline.

Mine one also said complete/on time, but I apply like July…

@longhornlegacy Thanks for sharing! At least that’s not too far off

I’ve heard it from past longhorns who transferred into the spring semester and I have scoured these forms as far as 3 years ago for spring transfer admissions and that’s whenever everyone had started getting decisions. By “first round”, I meant people with more than 30 credit hours. If you have more than 30 credit hours, your application is looked at and given a decision before people with less than 30 credit hours. Usually people who will have 30 credit hours by the time they would transfer are given decisions around finals. However, it isn’t uncommon for someone to hear anything up until the first day of class. We’ll have to see!

I’m applying as a Fall 2016 transfer and I was just working on my resumé. Does anyone have guidelines, tips or sample resumés they could post? Just trying to make it the best I can with the focus that this is for university admission in mind.

@Revofev they care about your GPA most, so your resume should have things relevant to your major so they can see your interests are in relation to your classes/grades

@Revofev I wouldn’t worry too much though, my friend transferred into McCombs and the only thing she had for extra curriculars in college at least was her sorority. But she also had a 4.0

@mccombsorbust Thanks for the reply! I think I should be okay then

Hello, I am looking to officially sublease my apartment. [Girls Only]
A private bedroom in 4x4 apartment located in North Riverside. You would get your own room but share a bathroom with one other person.
Rent: $440 all utilities included minus electricity
The apartment would be available to move into in January. I intend to move out at the end of December. The lease would be for the Spring semester until the end of the lease term which is 7/31/16 .
Fully furnished apartment with brand new stainless steel appliances. The countertops are currently being upgraded.
Parking is free unless you want a covered spot and the apartment complex is a gated community.
You would officially be assuming responsibility for my lease for the remainder of its term which is January-July.
There is are two shuttle stops right in front of the apartment and there are multiple metro stops around the complex.
Washer/Dryer are in the unit.
This location is 10-15 minutes from UT campus and less for Downton.

I can message your more details and pictures.

Could anyone give me advice on my situation…

I just started university at another UT campus, technically I have 0 credit hours right now. By the end of spring semester, I will have over 30. If I submit my application now, I know I can upload my transcripts as I get them (after each semester). But will they keep my application in consideration until after I submit at least 30 hours to them? Or will they rule me out after seeing I don’t have 30 hours when I submit first semester transcript in January?

You need at least 30 credit hours to transfer but you won’t be officially admitted until they have seen your proof of 30 credit hours. You’ll be considered for admission either way, as long as you get transcripts to them in time to make a decision. April 1st for transferring into the fall semester and October 1st for transferring into the following spring semester. Make sure you keep an open line of communication with admissions to ensure that they get all of your transcripts too because you’ll technically be giving them your spring one after grades are turned in past the deadline. However, that’s normal and they’ll most likely reach out to you for submission of your spring transcript. @Revofev

Did anyone else apply as a spring transfer and they don’t have their 30 credit hours completed just yet? Because I’m stressing big time, I feel like a lone wolf.

@sunshine97 I think the admissions committee will wait until you have completed your 30 credits by the end of the semester in order to review your application. You probably won’t hear anything until January.

I’m also attempting to transfer to CNS (first major choice is Physics, followed by Astronomy) this spring. Here are my stats. Let me know what you guys think. I’m impatient, and worried about not getting in. Specially since I don’t have credit for Calculus yet.
