Just got my denial, good luck to everyone who are still waiting and congrats to all who got in.
@longhornlegacy - sorry to hear that. Are you planning to put in more hours at ACC & try again next semester? Your GPA will probably improve and your chances better next time. Good luck to you.
I was accepted with a 3.43 with 42 transferable hours yesterday to COLA Economics!
Two essays I spent about 2 months on
Lots of extra curricular activities
1 LOR
I have been following this post as well as many other transfer threads for a very long time. I’ve probably read on this form every single day for the past month and honestly didn’t want to get my hopes up because of my low GPA. I think it was the rest of my application that carried me over and possibly my increasing academic trend ( 3.0, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0 ) Good luck to any of those who have applied and hope to see yall on the other side!
No, there’s a new law only allowing up to 60 credit hours to be transferred to a 4 year university and I will have 67 at the end of this semester. I already got accepted to St. Eds so I’m going to go there. I’m a hilltopper instead of longhorn and that’s okay haha @GuerreroLonghorn
To those admitted: when do we find out about financial aid? I need to know how I’m paying for my first semester and housing too.
We have very similar stats. At the end of this semester, I will have 43 credit hours and either a little below a 3.5 or a little above a 3.5. It is very encouraging to see you get into COLA-Economics, arguably the hardest COLA major to get into. I’m applying to COLA gov.
Congratulations!
so,any CNS decision yet? Did they finish cola decisions ?
If I’m a freshman with a 3.77 GPA applying to liberal undeclared for spring do you guys think I won’t get in this semester because I won’t be able to turn in my final transcript until after December 15th?
Hello everyone and congrats to those who were accepted! I was accepted too and I was wondering if living on campus for the first semester is a good idea? This is going to be the first time I will be alone, so I was thinking of dorming for this semester, then hopefully a sublease. Does anyone else have any recommendations for cheap housing? I’m trying to be as quick as possible because housing is really quick to go! Thank you!
Admitted to second choice, COLA for Economics. Does anyone know if transfers have the option of requesting a different major prior to being admitted? I see the option on the status page, but I am not sure if it also applies to transfers.
Any thoughts?
@VidaMia24 CONGRATULATIONS!! The anticipation was a killer but you made it! Can v you share your stats here? - GPA etc.
@VidaMia24 you can request to change your major, all UT admitted students have the option of changing their major.
But you will have to go through the waiting process again! My friend that that transfered to UT this fall got accepted to Liberal arts for psychology then a week or so later of her finding out her decisions she requested to change her major to Biology and they accepted her but she had to wait a few weeks to get her decision back for Biology.
Hey guys! I followed this board religiously when I applied for Fall 2016 transfer. I remember reading old threads for the spring semester transfer and I remember since they tell y’all so late you have trouble finding housing. Well, I told my friend I’d sublease her place while she’s studying abroad, which means I need someone to take over my lease on January 1st! It’s a private room, 550/month with other UT students. Pleeeease message me if any of y’all need housing.
I had a 3.39 GPA (from a college with very competitive grading rubrics)
What (I think) were really good essays
Decent ECs
60+ hours
1 letter of recommendation from my employer, which was an automotive technology company
I honestly think my essays carried me through (more than anything else). There’s this great book I read called ‘The Art of the College Essay’, and it taught me to write authentically without judging my story. Highly recommend!
I’m honestly really excited about the acceptance, but at the same time the major is very different from what I anticipated studying. Part of me isn’t sure what to do
@sunshine97
Thank you! That’s super helpful. One last thing – Do you know how long she had to wait? About 2 weeks or more? And am I renouncing my acceptance to Economics by requesting review for different majors?
Has anyone heard back about financial aid…? I was offered $9000+ in loans and only 2500 pell grant with $30000 income, I might not be able to afford UT.
I’m pretty sure she waited like 3-4 weeks to get her new major @VidaMia24 and apply for scholarships @amberlee9 there’s a lot of scholarships out there for student transferring to a 4 year university! I hope everything works out for you.
@amberlee9 Still waiting to hear back about financial aid…I remotely upgraded my UT EID to satisfy the requirement until I’ve moved to Austin, and it was finally ‘updated’ on the CASH page of the website today. This took about a week after express mailing the notorized form. Are there any scholarships applicable to you?
@swasher do you know if the Presidential Scholarship applies to transfers… there is no info about it on the website
@amberlee9 From the website:
https://admissions.utexas.edu/afford/scholarships/presidential-scholars
It looks like it is only for HS students.
