Spring/Fall 2016 Transfer Thread

so if I get accepted into UT, say for COLA undeclared, once I’m accepted I can request to change my major, say to COLA econ? And if that works out great, but if not then I’ll still just be in COLA undeclared ?

yes @mccombsorbust

that seems too god to be true ahahah but great to hear, thank you! @sunshine97 i might just put undeclared as my major then to ensure I get in and then request to change it, b/c my end goal is mccombs anyways

do you know if it would work between the diff colleges? like if i went in as cola econ or undeclared and requested to change it to finance in mccombs, would i be able to or would i have to wait until next fall after a year at UT? @sunshine97

It is too good to be true. The Dean had already announced that he no longer wants undeclared majors from transfer students. Goal is to graduate students timely. They will be looking at admitting students who already know what they want to do when applying las a transfer to Texas.

Did everyone else who was under 30 hours get an email to send in their grades?

Anybody else going to be graduating a little late because of transferring?

i did @temoc22 just kidding!

@sunshine97

"According to MyStatus, your 2016 spring transfer application is complete. However, the UT Austin Office of Admissions cannot make your admission decision until we receive a final transcript showing your completed fall 2015 coursework.

Your transcript must arrive no later than Jan. 5, 2016, but we encourage you to get your transcript to us as soon as possible after fall grades are posted. We’ll review your application only after your transcript arrives, and then it’ll take at least a couple of weeks to make and deliver your decision.

Here are some dates to keep in mind:

Tuesday, Jan. 5: Deadline for arrival of final transcripts
Monday, Jan. 11: Orientation for students enrolling in spring
Tuesday, Jan. 12: Registration for the spring semester
Tuesday, Jan. 19: Classes begin for the spring semester
After you submit your final transcript, please visit MyStatus until the site shows that your transcript has been added to your file. (Your final admission decision will also appear here as soon as it’s made.) Remember that it may take a couple of weeks after you send your transcript to us for us to receive it, process it, and upload it to your record.

We appreciate your patience during this busy time of year. Please contact the Office of Admissions at 512-475-7399 with any questions you may have about your application for admission.

We hope that your semester is going well."

I took self-paced UT extensions courses and got an A in both of them, can anyone tell me if those sorta raises of my chances of getting accepted?

For those attending spring orientation, I just found out that housing is not provided by UT. Where does everyone plan to stay for the two-day orientation?

I think I may faint and cry at the same time. I was rejected a few weeks ago and put in an appeal as a last ditch attempt under the Texas Academic Fresh Start program. I went ahead and enrolled in classes at ACC and kind of forgot about it. Today I logged into MyStatus to see if my appeal had been submitted and I was admitted.

Without the fresh start, my GPA was a 3.08. Apparently with it, they recalculated my GPA as a 3.59. I was admitted into Biology.

Hey well that’s awesome!!! So exciting!! Congrats! @jkdean

Congrats! !!! Awesome feeling!

@jkdean What classes did you have completed when you sent your application in? I’m really worried I’m not going to get accepted into Biology because I’ll only have my Bio1+Chem 1+Calc 1 done by the end of this semester, and I know on their website they recommend transfer student to complete Bio 1&2 , Chem 1&2 and Calc 1&2 before transferring:/ And congratulations!

I had a question, do you notisfy your current school that you transfer to other school, or you just simply send the final transcript? Do you need to decline the scholarship in curretn school>

Thanks all! I’m still kind of in shock, because I had written it off and now I’m jumping through hoops with the VA to get my GI Bill straight.

@sunshine97, I actually had a degree in Human Resources Management, so I have 120 hours, but very few of those are applicable toward my biology degree. I spent last year at the University of South Carolina getting my first year biology courses before I had to move back to Texas unexpectedly.

I had General Chemistry I&II (with labs) and Cellular Biology I&II (with labs) and Calculus I. I’m not sure how they’re going to consider my calculus credit, because according to my degree plan for UT, I need either M408C or M408N and the calculus class I had taken at USC was differential and integral calculus, which is what I think M408C is supposed to be.

Hey guys! I know this is completely personal but if you were denied into UT if you could please share your stats, that would sorta help out the other people waiting, If you’re not comfortable saying you were denied or sharing your stats, I completely understand. It was just a suggestion, so that people can sorta compare.

Hey guys, I know you have to turn in your final transcript. But does the final grades matter? As in can they rescind your admission after the final the transcript? I’m scared because of my calculus class. I’m not failing but just won’t make an A.

@kumiho

From what I gather, once you’re in, you’re in. Now, if you fail your calculus class, I think that would be enough for them to rescind your offer.

The updated grades matters more for people like me who have less than 30 hours completed. I had 28, but I’m actually kind of glad they forced me to wait as I anticipate good grades for the semester.
