Did anyone else from COLA get a letter from the office of Liberal Arts Honors and Humanities Programs? If so, please help explain the programs to me! I am very confused… What is the difference between lib arts honors upper division and lower division? Do both graduate with a distinction? Difference between lib arts honors and the humanities program?
Quick question…on the Apply Texas application for transfer it asks for the number of college hours you have completed. Do you include here what is in process? In other words, daughter will have completed 15 at application time, but 30 at the end of spring semester and is applying for fall 2016. Does she put 30?
@rach98n She will need to put 15 on the Apply Texas application, because that is the current amount she will have completed when she submits her application, Then at the end of the semester she will submit her spring transcript with the other 15 credits hours she earned.
Also submit have her submit her transcript with her current GPA and her 15 hours completed before the Fall 2016 application deadline, I made that mistake for the spring but quickly fixed it. I thought you would just send one transcript with your 30 hours completed at the end of the semester but nope. @rach98n
@longhorntobe so they won’t be letting us do early check in for dorms?
Hey! Could I ask how is it going with your transfer application? I am also a petroleum major student and I am also seeking opportunities to get admission in UT. I don’t know what kind of applicants can be admitted in PE department.
Meanwhile, I wonder if I can also apply for engineering majors for a spring semester?
Thanks a lot for your information! Good luck!
@kumiho They do reserve the right to rescind your application, however it’s pretty much designed for people who bomb their last semester before going to UT. I’ve never heard of them rescinding, so you’ll be absolutely fine with a B, don’t worry about it. Now if your semester GPA is going to be a 2.0 with 12-15 hours, I would worry.
What are my chances for applying to engineering? 3.6 gpa from clemson and a 32 act
@amberlee9 you can only get a dorm for orientation if you’ve already been offered a housing contract.
Do I have any chance for petroleum engineer in Fall 2016 or will I have to do another year at junior college (2016-2017) to do Calculus II/III, Physics I/II.
Currently 53 hours/4.0 GPA. Phi Theta Kappa. Texas Resident.
Calculus I - spring 2016
Calculus II/Physics I - fall 2016
Calculus III/Physics II - spring 2017
Have A’s in Introductory Chemistry, General Chemistry I, General Chemistry II, Physical Geology, Physical Geology Lab, College Algebra, Trigonometry, English I, English II, US History I, US History II, Federal Govt, Texas Govt, Art History II, Public Speaking, Western Civilization I, Intro to Humanities, Physical Education Class.
Have I significantly improved my chances at all?
I was under 30 hours when I applied.
Then: 28 hours – 3.395 (or 3.4)
Now: 43 hours – 3.54 GPA
How long does it take to get a reply after turning in a transcript? Also how much of a chance do y’all think I have with 31 hours and a 3.77 GPA for liberal arts economics?
What are my chances of transferring in for Fall 2016? (Cockrell Petroleum Engineering)
I just completed my first semester of UH Petroleum Engineering w/ 3.94 GPA.
Took Cal 1, Chem 1, Geology, Intro to Engr/Petr Engr, Chem/Geol Lab, Kinesiology this semester (17 hours)
Next semester will be taking Cal 2, Chem 2, Phys 1, Chem 2/Phys 1 Lab, and Computing for Engineers next semester (15 hours).
Have been involved with couple engineering organizations, and have volunteered in association with them repeatedly throughout semester. Looking to also be a TA for the following semester, possibly hold an officer position.
Not sure how relevant my SAT score is (2080, 1370 Composite), though my HS performance was terrible, and am not planning to submit it.
Have of course looked into the courses and how they will transfer, will lose an hour in the transfer, though will make the 30 hour requirement.
@SanAntonio2015, I don’t think you have a choice but to submit your high school coursework.
I graduated high school in 2004, got a bachelor’s degree, and filed for academic forgiveness so that UT wouldn’t consider any coursework older than 10 years, and I still had to submit a high school transcript.
@jkdean, I see, though I’m pretty sure they weight HS performance less than they do of college anyways.
-Dallas Community Colleges
-4.0 GPA overall, 32 hours
-Electrical Engineering (Cockrell)
-Not sure about the essays.
-I took Calculus 3, University Physics 1, Federal Government, Business Applications, and an Educational Class (EDUC) for Fall 2015. I have calculus 1 & 2 as a credit and passed College Algebra and Trig Dual Credit. Got All A and GPA is 4.0
- Worked 30 hours per week as a manager at Walmart, and have fair resume
What is my chance for Electrical Engineering at UT?
School: UT Arlington (CAP student)
GPA: 3.82 fall / very likely 4.0 spring; will result in total 3.91
Hours: 17 fall / 15 spring; total 32 hours
Classes: Calculus 1&2, Physics 1&2, Chem 1, English 1, US government, Sociology, and Music; my weakest subject is US govt (hence my only B this semester) and I’m very confident in all my other classes
SAT: 1990
1st Major: Cockrell’s Mechanical Engineering
2nd Major: COOLA’s “undergrad studies” (all CAP students must put this as their second choice to guarantee admission)
Strong rec letters from Calc 2, Physics 1&2, and English profs.
Essays are currently being revised and is average/strong.
EC’s: not much in college sadly, it’s all from high school (2 years of varsity volleyball, 200+ hours of community & service, saman dance, scholarship winner from my previous international school, treasurer for the flea market committee, props & backstage director for yearly school assembly, and etc.)
Note: I moved to the US from abroad during my senior year which messed up my grades and GPA significantly. I went from an IB based school to an AP based one. Took only 2 AP tests senior year, though I ended up retaking those courses freshman year because of the way CAP is set up. I speak 3 languages.
Please, chance me. I know my fall GPA wasn’t great (was one point away from an A in US govt) but I am fairly confident in a 4.0 this spring. I can revise my essays to be strong, and maybe add a few EC’s this spring semester.
@cherry18 - while I can’t necessarily tell you your chances, I can tell you my son was a CAP at UTSA and had 30 hours and had a 3.87 (I think - one B). He had no extra curriculars at UTSA and a few in HS. He was admitted to Mechanical Engineering and just graduated. Good luck! I hope you get what you want!
Can anyone chance me for applying to Jackson School of Geosciences? Really don’t know if I could get in as an out of state student. I’m currently attending a four-year university
GPA: 4.0 fall/ hopefully 4.0 in spring (total 37 hours)
Classes (fall&spring): Calc II&III; Physics I; Intro to Geology; History; Chem 1&2; Intro to Field Methods; English Writing;
Fair essays and resume. Don’t have a lot EC’s in high school
Please chance me, haven’t seen anyone apply to Jackson School for a while.
@sheer11 you don’t have a chance , cockrell requirements are Calc 1 , Calc 2 , Physics 1 + lab … you need those to even be considered
