I was wondering that if I can ask the TOEFL score of your international friends? I wanna chance myself.LOL

But i haven’t taken Bio 1 or 2 yet but plan on taking both in the summer. This being the case should i keep bio as my first choice major or should i put psychology BS as my first choice since i don’t have those bios completed yet?
Chances?
Will it really be June until we hear anything? thats so far away
@whlockett From what I gathered from other threads, it depends on major and whether or not you have 30 hours prior to applying.
@kafooxd Ill have 47 after spring semester and I have 32 after fall (including 16 AP hours) and im applying for mccombs, from what ive seen ill be lucky to hear in May
@whlockett That’s a good amount of hours! I have heard several different things. Some people hear back as early as April and others hear back as late as July. It also depends on the amount of applicants.
@kafooxd what major are you applying for/stats?
@whlockett I’m applying to McCombs!
GPA: 4.0
Credit Hours: 31 (includes AP credits)
Extracurriculars and essays are decent
I have one recommendation letter from an awesome professor as well.
What about you?
Also, if I am currently taking a business indicator course (Calculus 2), will that lower my chances of getting in?
@kafooxd looks like I have similar stats, 4.0 GPA decent essays and EC’s. honestly have no clue what our chances are considering even with a 4.0 we could easily be denied, as for Calculus 2 its definetly possible that it could hurt your chances but if so i would think it would be marginal. I wouldnt spend too much time worrying about it, I would just try to make sure you keep your grades up this semester particularly in that class in the event UT wants to see an updated transcript or anything, good luck to you
@whlockett Thank you for the advice! I’m going to focus on spring grades becaus I don’t want to take any chances.
Hello everyone!
Figured I would check my chances and join in on the conversation
currently:
Applied COLA, Major: 1st Government/2nd History
GPA: 3.15 (I know its low had a few circumstances last semester) (51 credits)
Projected GPA at end of semester: 3.37 (66 credits)
Though my GPA is low I have all A’s in all my liberal arts course work. The lower gpa comes from my C’s in science/math coursework.
over 50 hours of volunteer work at various places such as food banks, churches, etc.
I have worked 3 jobs over the course of my college career. Two are jobs on campus.
3 LOR: 1 from a distinguished alumni and large donor and 2 from supervisors. Potentially a fourth coming in soon whom is a professor as well as a UT graduate
Good essays with unique life experiences
URM if that matters
I’m figuring I will have to submit my spring grades for consideration so I’m okay with that.
@ssppiikkeerr I’m not super familiar with COLA and how to get in Maybe someone else can chime in?
I’m getting nervous about the Calculus 2 requirement… some people have said you need it completed before applying to even be considered. Other people have gotten in without it though.
Could someone chance me?
School: University of Houston Honors
Freshman
Major: Computer Science
Hours completed (w/ AP credits): 60+
GPA: 3.94
Transferring into: CNS - Computer Science
Extracurriculars: Some coding clubs, some business, had tons of leadership positions throughout high school (written on extended resume)
Volunteer work: Pretty good
Interned at Gap Engineering and did some work tutoring/Mathnasium
Essays pretty good
Really good recommendation letter from Honors Professor
Could anyone give me an idea of my chances?
I’m considering applying to either COLA Undeclared or Econ…people say that i would have a better chance at getting in undeclared vs econ? is that true?
Current school: University of Oklahoma
Freshman - will have 31+ hours by Fall 2016
Major: Econ (which is in the business school here)
GPA: 4.0
Extracurriculars: some clubs, greek life, honor society, and volunteering
Essays decent and have one letter of recommendation from a professor
Also on scholarship at OU and am a Texas resident
@transferut10 Its likely youll get into COLA with a 4.0 as for undeclared vs econ Ive heard they dont like undeclared people because as a transfer they want you to already have a plan on what you want to do though who really knows what goes on at UT admissions
is applying to econ or undeclared easier?
Hi guys, can you help give me an idea of my chances?
Im currently at San antonio community college and Im just doing mostly electives.
Im trying to get into CNS majoring in Biology cell and molecular and there average GPA that they accept is 3.5, currently I have a 3.71 and Im hoping to get all A this semester which will boost it up to 3.857.
My classes so far are:
Speech- A
Music Appreciation- A
History 1- A
Composition 1 and 2- both are B thats what dragging my GPA down but english is my second language so its really not my strong point plus I took it as dual credit during high school and I slack off…which I regret a lot.
Calculus 1- AP credit
Economic- A
Currently in process:
History 2, world religion, federal government and american literature (hopefully I’ll get an A for this harder English class and prove that my english skill increase)
Volunteering wise Im trying to volunteer more now and is currently doing it at red cross, food pantry and the methodist hospital pharmacy. During high school I would say I have about 50 hours per year which is not a lot. Extracurriculars: some clubs and currently Im in the Kappa thi Alpha for SAC.
My essays are decent, Im trying to think of more special ideas or something that would stand out/unique.
Recommendation letters I can get a good one from my high school math teacher and Japanese teacher. Ill see if I can get one from my current professor but Im not that close with them yet. I think the main thing that will probably make them deny me is my GPA and the extracurriculars. Please help me, thank you.
@kazume19 Your chance is zero. You are applying to CNS-Biology, but you have not any credits related to Biology. Do not apply, just waste your application fee. I’m sorry if what i said offended you.
@kazume19 - just to give you another opinion, the classes you are taking are part of the core classes you would be required to take for a 4 year degree, so the only way you know is to apply and see what happens.
