I’m currently finishing up my last semester at a community college in Texas and planning on transferring to the University of Texas at Austin. My GPA is currently a 3.94 out of 4 due to one B that I made in a dual credit class in high school. My first choice is the Jackson School of Geosciences. I am currently taking Calc 2 and Engineering Physics 1. I have completed Chemistry 1 and 2 and have received all A’s in the courses I have taken at my community college. I have two letters of recommendations, one from my geology professor and one from my physics professor. Thing is I don’t have that many EC’s, I just work 20 hours a week at a country club.

So, on the topic of not getting into your first major but getting into your second - what if the college of your second major releases decisions first? Do you get your decision from said college regardless of what happens with your first choice major? Or does the college of the second choice major wait until the college of the first choice major makes their decision?
@golf1234 id say you have as good have a chance as anyone applying with a 4.0!, you should be solid as long as you have something on your resume, good luck!.@Clintonwk i don’t think they will release your application until both colleges have released their decisions so you’ll still be in review until both release
@MyLonghorn Sadly I don’t have a 4.0 but instead a 3.94, due to my dual credit course in high school (which is actually listed as an A on my high school transcript). I’m so nervous, I really don’t want to go to any other school other than UT :(. This wait is painful. Hopefully I hear back around late April since I already have more than 30 credits.
@MyLonghorn
Hello! I will be applying to transfer to UT Austin for the fall 2016 semester from the University of Oklahoma. I was offered CAP out of high school and regretfully declined. I am extremely determined to attend UT Austin. My first choice major is Health Promotion in COE and my second choice major is Undeclared in COLA. Currently, I have 28 transferrable hours from AP credit and my fall semester at OU. This semester I’m taking 17 hours. My current GPA is a 4.0. I have 4 rec letters: 2 from UT alums, 1 from a professor from OU, and 1 from a high school teacher. I wrote 3 essays, all of which I believe are strong. I’m involved in several clubs on campus (biology club, pre-pt club, 2 honor national honor societies), and a sorority. I have jobs writing for the campus newspaper and The Odyssey. In addition, I have done a significant amount of volunteer work throughout high school and college.
Fall 2015 courses-

Intro to Rehab Services
Intro to Sociology
Intro to Zoology Lab

Spring 2016 courses-

@mcs1225 im 95% sure you will get in if you maintain anything from a 3.8-4.0, considering the college of education isn’t one of the super competitive schools to get into. From my knowledge if you have anything above a 3.94 only 3-4 majors have the possibility of getting rejected unless you mess up the requirements or something and those are CS , Business, ChemE , and PetE… so if your not one of those and you have above a 3.94, you should get in for the most part
Can you chance me?
I am applying as a transfer student from Colorado State. I too was offered CAP instead of freshman admission, don’t know if that’s relevant or not. At CSU I was double majoring in CS and Computer Engineering. I made CS my first choice major with Electrical/Computer Engineering my second choice.

I’m confident that I can maintain my 4.0 through this semester. My essays were on par with what you would expect. I don’t have any rec letters. Also, what’s the possibility of doing double major at UT with CS and Computer Engineering. I’m a first generation student and of Hispanic descent.
@golf1234 Yes, call them. You have to talk to the application reviewers (that’s not their title, i just cant remember the official title lol) and they are available from 1-3pm. I called a couple weeks ago and they explained how my gpa was calculated
@britni12 what does it mean if your transfer credits and GPA show up on the financial aid tab, along with “First Semester Enrollment” , “College/School of Study” , “Major Field of Study”…? Reason I ask, previously there was a message about the financial aid stuff when you clicked the tab at the top that read “Access to financial aid status information is restricted to admitted students. If you are offered admission to UT Austin, please check back to access your financial aid information.” I understand this info I am talking about is in the Continuing & Transfer Student Scholarship Application for 2016…
I had the same thought… are folks “seeing” their transfer credits and GPA in the Financial Aid tab because they completed the scholarship application? Once that is complete, do those items just start to appear?
@golf1234 heads up they don’t round up… so if your school rounds up your GPA from a 3.937 to a 3.94… the UT system doesn’t round up so a 3.937 which should go to a 3.94 will actually stay a 3.93. but don’t stress over this too much a if your decision comes down to deciding between a 3.93 and 3.94 … they won’t care about GPA at that point, its all resume and essays
@Clintonwk Interesting, thanks. It’s not there for my son but he will keep checking. Side note: he is in the process of completing his scholarship application but is not done yet; it’s due April 1 if I recall.
I looked at MyStatus and saw that in the right hand box under Transfer Admission Application that the phrase in the color green “Complete/On Time” has disappeared. Has this happened to anyone else? Also, I haven’t seen any update under the financial aid tab in regards to my hours transferring.
