I made a thread like this in May the title was too vague. So the thread was not very active. I decided to remake the thread! Post any comments, questions, stats, etc.
Hey, so quick question. If I choose to transfer to UT after a single semester at a different university, will they take me? I checked on the website and noticed that they said you must have 30 transferable hours completed by the time you come, which may or not be possible for me. Is there any way I can check how many of my credits are transferrable? It would be split between a 4 year uni (TCU), community college, and AP’s.

This is the link for APs/CLEP/Subject tests- although I am not sure you can count those toward the 30 unless you claim them at your current school.

To see what applies to your degree plan, you’ll have to google UT Austin degree plan and the major. That will usually get you to the requirements.
@gettingschooled thanks for the links, but what I’m most worried about isn’t AP’s or SAT II’s, its the current classes I am taking the first semester at TCU. Currently I am taking 13 credit hours, consisting of Intro Bio I Honors + Lab (4), Gen Chem (3), Elem Stats (3) and International Politics Honors (3). I plan on doing a Biochemistry major for premed at UT so will I have to take the classes for my major on campus since that would include gen chem?
Also, I am deciding ot give TCU at least a semester but for now I’ll at least apply for transfer to both UT and A&M and see how things go before I make any binding decisions.
Figure out first if you will get the 30 hours. Go to the second link and pick TCU and put in the class information to see what credit you would get at UT. I can’t do it for you since I don’t have TCU course numbers. Do the same for the community college.
Based on this page, it looks like having as much science and Calculus as possible will help

I don’t see anything on the degree check sheets that says you would be required to take the intro classes at UT. Can’t hurt to call and ask though.
@gettingschooled Ok I couldn’t find a transferrable course for Bio I but I did for everything else, so that’s 9 credit hours right there. I also have 9 credit hours from 3 community college courses that will transfer over. I also have 29 credit hours from passing 8 AP’s. Even if I don’t get all of them I only need 12 of them to have 30 by end of semester or 21 to have it now. Holy shit that is a HUGE relief, knowing I have enough credit hours to apply. I’ll probably email an admissions counselor and ask her about what I’d do about the Biology (and possibly chemistry) not transferring and not ending up a semester behind.
I would definitely ask how to make sure the APs count. You might need to claim them at TCU to get them on the transcript. UT does not apply them to the transcript until you enroll.
Also, I already have 4 hours for Calc from AP exam, and after the fall semester at TCU I’ll have 7 hours from Bio I honors and chem I. Will UT even look at my GPA from fall semester even though I will be done applying.
Also none of the AP credits have shown up on my unofficial transcript yet, onmy my community college transferred classes. idk when they will apply it but I better contact them so I don’t get screwed over since that will deterine whether or not I can.
Hey can anyone chance me for transfer admission to CNS. Thanks.

Question: Since the deadline for application to transfer starting in Fall 17 is March 1st, will they wait until they se my grades for the spring 17 semester? Or will I have to live with my GPA as of the end of this fall?
I really want to use my next spring grades so that I have one more chance to pull up the GPA. I’m looking at English major but I only have a 3.0 at Baylor after a rough 1st semester in pre-med. I can for sure get it to a 3.3 if they consider my spring grades before making a decision.
