Spring Open Campus and ALANA Program

Who's going? Is anyone going to both?
Are they legitimately gonna pay for my airfare or trainfare?
What do you guys think?

I’m going to both!!! Can’t wait :D

If they said they would…then they should haha Did you call and ask? I wish I got offered the free trip~

Hope to see you there!!

Oh I thought everyone got the paper for the free trip. That’s weird. You must live closer than I do. Haha.

dunno if you would call FL close haha but maybe you live on the West Coast?

No! I live in Virginia! I’m way closer than you are. That’s so weird! Is it like some sort of golden ticket type thing?? Haha

I’m from Texas and they offered to pay for my round trip ticket plus all meals & housing & shuttle is paid for as well…my dad is going with me but he had to for his flight however the travel agent got a good flight as well as good seats…so its a great deal if you get the grant yiy should definitely go and even if you don’t you should go!!! I have a friend there who is going to show me around so I’m super excited.

Idk how they choose a friend of mine who lives in Texas also got the grant so maybe it partially distance idk

hmmm…I feel unloved haha
But it’s all cool, cuz I’m just so excited to go!!

What’s the Alana program?

ALANA= African-american, Latino-hispanic, Asian-american, Native-American

Honestly, the only reason I’d go would be to get to spend an extra day at the school. Diversity isn’t a very big concern of mine and I can’t see anything they talk to me about at the program influencing my decision either way (:

Oh okay thanks. That’d be why I’ve never heard of it I suppose.

I’m going to Spring Open Campus! I live in Arizona and didn’t get the travel grant though :frowning: so I don’t think it’s based on distance.

@terrasini- It must be based on income then.

or the admission plan you were accepted under. Because my income is pretty low but I was accepted ED…and since SOC is mainly for people who have yet to commit, they probably don’t find the need to pay for ED admitted students.

For the April 21-22 Spring Open Campus, are you allowed to go on either the 21st or the 22nd? I would love to go to both, but I REALLY want to visit another school in boston and I can only go on either of those days…

If it’s the same as the fall one, then you’re supposed to go both days since the first one they speak a lot about the college and the second day you explore and leave around noon. However, they’re not very strict and don’t keep track of you so I’m sure you could leave after the first day. If you’re going with a travel grant then they make sure you get too and from the airport on time because they book the plane for you. If I were you, I would go to Wellesley the first day and the other school on the second day.

Hey, I can’t wait to meet you all at the open campus!!
Just wondering: Are you all coming with your parents? Is anyone (from New York?) going alone?

A travel grant? I have a paper inviting me to SOC and ALANA, but no travel grant offer…what does it look like?

@keepingthemoon1- I’m not from New York but I do think I’m going without my parents. Because the only way that I can fly is the travel grant so we can’t afford two extra plane tickets.

@keepingthemoon1-- i’m from CT, and my parents are not going. They already went to 2 Discover Wellesley days (one overnight, one during the day) with me in the fall, so there’s not much more information for them to know! Also, I was accepted ED, so it’s not like I’m deciding about college or anything. they’re going to drop me off then pick me up, but that’s it!
