Spring Open Campus?

Does Smith have an Open Campus in April for admitted students? And if so, does anyone know the dates this year?

I haven't seen anything official, but Open Campus is usually the week before Collaborations, a weekend event where students present the research projects they've been working on. This year, collaborations is on April 19, so I believe Open Campus would start on the 17th with Discovery Weekend (for women of color) starting on the 18th.

For at least all the years I've followed it, Open Campus is the same weekend as Discovery Weekend, as they make it a point for women of color to experience the Smith academic environment (and others can stay over as well; I know we did.)

There are some incorrect dates above.

Open Campus is April 10 and 11 this year. Celebrating Collaborations is April 12. Smith College: Celebrating Collaborations

In order to be officially invited to Open Campus, you must be accepted to Smith regular decision OR be eligible to attend Discovery Weekend.

ohhh nooooooooooooo! thats the same weekend as my prom!!

Woops. Thanks for the correction, borgin.

Mini, Open Campus is the two days before Discovery Weekend. Participants in the latter program can catch the tail end of the former, but they technically are two separate things.

Ah, I don't think I'm going to be able to make it (if I get in). I'm going to be in the Northeast the following week, but I suppose I could do an overnight and sit in on a class and take a campus tour and get a feel for the campus that way, instead. It would be nice to meet possible classmates, but oh well. I guess I could go if I missed 7 days of school, but I don't really want to do that. I would spend the rest of my life making it up!

Don't sweat it, Open Campus isn't really that awesome in my opinion. I'm a Gold Key guide so I've worked it for the past two years, and I still don't like it. You'll have a much better time if you come and do an overnight on a less crazy weekend. So don't sweat it.

"Mini, Open Campus is the two days before Discovery Weekend. Participants in the latter program can catch the tail end of the former, but they technically are two separate things."

Sorry - I could have been clearer: Discovery Weekend coincides with Collaborations, NOT with Open Campus. (I also said that we stayed over for Collaborations.)

If Open Campus is April 10, when does the admissions decision go out (get posted)?

Historically, the admissions decisions have been released in the end of March (I think I heard on March 25 or a day similar to that in 2004 - it was a Friday). April 1 is the latest you'll get a decision.

im getting really excited! smith is turning into my first choice, which is ironic because i didnt like it as much as other places when i visited. now i've learned though that smith open campus is not only the same weekend as prom (mentioned above) but also the same weekend as bryn mawr revisit, which was originally one of my top choices. sigh.

I really want to fly over from Singapore some time in early May, to catch NoHo Pride and to do an overnight at Smith! Is that a good time to visit?

Not really. That is right when exams are being held. The official open campus is in April. You may visit in May of course but I’m not sure they would let you stay over during that time. You should email admissions with your ideas for a visit and they will advise. Good luck.

I misplaced my BannerWeb login info but in the Accepted Smith Students group (Smithies 2016) the girls have said that Open Campus will be taking place April 19 - 20.
