Hey! Is anyone attending the Spring Open Campus on April 17th? Or, if you've already attended an SOC could you talk about your experience there?

most people say that the students are pretty down and boring since it’s exam time. does anyone know the last date that SOC takes place I still don’t know if I’m going here definitely.

there’s a facebook group for the ur class of 2014. I saw plenty of posts about soc

i’m going on the 17th too!

Sharath 192,

I’m not sure if you have your facts right… UR students aren’t in exam time until the beginning of May. Every April the student body is incredibly active, culminating with Dandelion Weekend (the last weekend in April), which is a College celebration weekend when everyone on campus unwinds before finals week begins.

If any of you come to a SOC event, (and if it is sunny out), you will be shocked with how active the student body is.

When I was deciding on what university to attend, U of R’s SOC event was my deciding factor. The campus was beautiful, and I could see myself staying there for 4 years. I highly recommend everyone to visit campus if they haven’t already. Perhaps you’ll get here and decide that this campus isn’t right for you, and that’s ok!

Don’t jump to conclusions before you visit the schools you’re admitted into. Spring Open Campus is a great way to give the U of R a try.

hmm guess I was misinformed then. some users on here said that they had horrible spring oc experiences and another said what I said. i didn’t visit yet but hopefully mine will be as exciting as yours was.

you guys should join the facebook group for the class of 2014; alot of people wrote their amazing SOC experiences and its a great way to connect with your classmates too :D

I think everyone is going to have a different experience with SOC, hopefully more positive than negative. However, if a student were to spend a day on our campus and decide that, based on his/her experience, Rochester was not the right choice, that is certainly a valuable outcome. At least that student can confidently cross Rochester off the list - and Rochester ensures that the students that arrive on campus next fall are students that genuinely want to be here and are confident in the decision they have made.

Most of what I have heard from families about SOC has been positive - in fact, I have spoken with a handful of students at the last two SOC’s that arrived undecided and deposited their enrollment checks before the day was over. All in all I’d say the response has been very positive.
