Spring Preview

I just received the admissions materials in the mail today. It said that they would cover transportation costs for Spring Preview (I didn't apply for FA or anything). I'm just curious, is this something they do for every accepted student? I can't believe they have the money if that is the case. Did everyone else get this? It looks like a bookmark attached to one of the packets, saying they would cover the costs.

Got this as well, and didn’t apply for fa. Guessing they provide this for all acceptees

same here must go to all accepted students.

Where did it say that? I don’t think it said that in mine and I did apply for fa. I live about a 5 hour drive away from st. louis so maybe there’s a distance requirement.

i live in NC and i got one also. It’s probably for out of staters. Also, when they say that they will cover travel costs does that only cover the student or does it cover the student and a parent.

My son was accepted ED. He received an invitation to Spring Preview…and got a parking permit! We’re from California, so that’s kind of a long drive! Obviously they are trying to get the people who have not committed to come out, but I’m not sure why he got an invite to Spring Preview!

Everyone accepted gets an invite regardless of FA status, whether you’ve visited or not before, etc.

Yeah I know I just thought it was funny that he got an invite (he had been there before at our expense), no ticket, but a PARKING PERMIT☺

Speaking of parking permits, when I visited in the summer my father got a ticket for illegally parking in a construction area. WashU covered the expense without hesitation (love the midwestern hospitality).

They send parking permits to everyone…a lot easier than trying to decide if someone X will fly or drive. Plus family can come with and rent a car, in which case you’d need the pass.

And as above poster mentioned, Wash U will generally take care of parking tickets that are given to parents year round if you talk to the right person.

We did not receive the parking permit… probably just missed stuffing one in our envelope.

Can request one from admissions office.

I didn’t get a parking permit or a travel voucher… and I’m near Chicago so we would be staying overnight. Should I call and ask? Maybe they just missed my envelope or something.

No parking permit here either, but an offer to reimburse travel expenses. What an awesome surprise! I can hardly believe they’re willing to do this! Really nice.

We’re not going to book travel, though, until after son gets his financial aid package. They’re coming soon, right?

@SimpleLife: You should be able to check the FA package by logging onto the pathway & clicking the financial aid link. This will pretty much lead you to a of that shows how much aid you received.

^Really? Awesome! How did my son not know? :)

^^Wait. GoldOwl, my son has nothing there. He can only check his financial aid status. Which seems to show that they have everything they need, in terms of his FA application. There’s nothing there that shows how much aid he received.

Oh. And his admission notification status actually says, within the body of the email, something like, “If you applied for financial aid, you will be hearing from us in several days.”

Hmmm. And you got yours already? Weird.

That’s weird. After I go onto the FA page, I clicked on the check your app status link in the upper left corner. This led me to another page that prompted me to enter my ID and PW again and select academic yr. Under the required documents, there’s an incoming student link that I clicked on. Then I was directed onto another page where I just clicked the log in button to see the FA deal.
Sorry for my convoluted instructions

^Oh, those aren’t convoluted instructions. After trying on his own, my son showed me the exact same process… except that it doesn’t end in a financial aid package. It ends on a page that shows what’s required and what’s been received. Nothing is required at this point.

Oh okay…I’m really sorry I wasted all your time on that. I thought the FA package had been updated for all applicants but I guess not. Hopefully you’ll receive it soon!
