hey I got into Cal for Spring semester, but I have some questions.

First off, what is the Fall program for Freshmen?

Secondly, would I be better off going to FPF or to a community college for the fall semester? I think going to a CC would boost my gpa, but how would FPF help me? Thanks for all your help!

Curry,

I was FPF this past fall. I would DEFINITELY recommend the FPF program. It is basically an off campus program run by university extension where you can take many of the same classes offered on campus, taught by the same quality faculty as on campus. There are only two major differences that I noticed

The class sizes are much smaller. They are capped at 75. In my opinion, this definitely helped with the transition to college.

You can’t take some science classes at FPF because of the lack of lab facilities, but the staff does a very good job in making sure you still can stay on track to graduate in 4 years. It really isn’t an issue for most people.

Other than that, you are pretty much a Berkeley student. There really is no difference. I was able to join campus clubs, live in dorms, etc. The only time other students knew I was in FPF was when I told them.
