SSAT scores and chances

I took a practice test at home and got about a 93% total (I think, well something around there) I would like to know what percentile that is. I'm looking into applying to Loomis, Exeter and maybe Concord Academy. Should I apply to more school then that?

I've been playing violin for 8 years, piano for 5, and percussion (mostly mallets) for 4

I Play field hockey for my schools middle school "A" team (been playing for 4 years)

I'm a lacrosse goalie (3 years)

and I started fencing last year, but I'm getting pretty serious about it and would like to make my schools varsity team (there's a good chance I will)

Im on the Leadership committee of my synagogue youth department
I volunteered at a local farm for a little while

I'm planning on applying for freshman year '09-'10
I'm taking the second half of algebra I honors (Straight A's) (will take geometry in 9th grade)
Physical science honors (straight A's)
English (G for 1 quarter last year, but then A's)
US History (last year I went from a C to a B to an A)
Spanish I (All A's except 1 B) (will take spanish 2 in 9th grade)

Oh, and I forgot to mention my dad is a Loomis Alum and is a class leader (or whatever its called) and still has ties with the admin. and other people at the school.

Also, I would not be applying for FA (at any of the schools)

With your dad being an alum and your impressive resume, Loomis is your safety, which is a school that usually isn't a safety for most people.
Concord would also be a safety, but still definitely check it out. Being a safety school means nothing whatsoever. All the schools your looking at are very good, as are most college preparatory boarding schools. Exeter is your only reach, but 99% of applicants for Exeter I would call a reach so I do not give them a false sense of safety that sometimes happens when you tell someone a school is a safety on one of these websites.

What do you mean by loomis isn't usually a safety for people? does that mean people usually have trouble getting in? Also, I'm actually not applying to concord (I've decided its too far from home) Loomis is 1h 30mins and exeter is about 4h (but is a really good school) as For Concord its 3h 30min and isnt an ultra great school

Loomis is hard to get into, but I'm pretty sure your not going to have much problem getting it. As for distance, I feel your pain. I am that far away from those schools to, so it is hard to travel back and forth (not so bad Loomis).

You should also check out Kent (I know its Loomis's rival but still), Blair, Gunnery, Westminster, and possibly Taft.

If you don't get into Exeter, will you be happy attending Loomis? I agree -- with your stats and activities and legacy, unless you get nuked by a horrible teacher rec or something, Loomis is a safety for you.

If Exeter is your first choice and you will be happy with attending Loomis if you don't get into Exeter, I think you are making a good choice in applying to just those two schools. If you find other schools that you would prefer to Loomis, you might add in a school or two -- but don't do it just because other people are applying to tons of schools. Most don't have a safety on the caliber of Loomis.

far? I live three thousand miles away from any of those schools. (California)

Ouch, have you checked out any of the boarding schools in Cali? There are some really good ones out there, including Cate, Thatcher, and Stevenson.

Thanks, well I dont think I'm applying to any other schools. Loomis is definitely my first choice, and Exeter my second (my parents dont really want me to go to Exeter becuase of distance) I've looked into taft and Kent and such, and the Gunnery has sports games against my current school, so I think its awkwardly close to board at

MDog795 and Thingslost........The correct spelling: Thacher School, Ojai, CA

My bad Thacher parent, I don't know much about the school, but I what I do hear is all excellent.

Thacher was one of son's priority last year, but he didn't apply, no time for campus visit.
