SSAT Scores

anybody can explain the discrepancy?
If you read this website, most of candidates have scores above 90 percentile.
But on other websites the average SSAT scores in most institutions are 80-86 percent.

It might just be the selection bias inherent in this website-- high scoring students are probably very invested in the idea of getting into school, which would lead them to CC in the first place.
Plus, as we all know, with averages, any high scores (i.e. the ones posted on the chance me’s here), there are probably students with lower scores being accepted to these schools not here.
Also, as all scores here are self-reported, people could be lying to make themselves look good. Who knows, really.
I say this as someone with a score below the 90th percentile, so like, oop.

Well, if you go by CC, you’d think that you’re an odd ball if you didn’t apply to Exeter or Phillips.

LOL! So true.

My kid isn’t applying to any of the HADES.

My kid isn’t even applying to any of the GLADCHEMMS.

My kid is an A+ student with SSAT scores in that there 80-85 percentile range. The schools we’re applying to are mentioned here as second tier. Or worse. But those are the schools that attracted our attention.

In the past, when I have spoken with Heads of School at various competitive day & boarding schools, an SSAT score of 85 was the most cited as excellent. I never discussed SSAT scores with anyone at Exeter or Andover however.
