Do any of you know if it's too late to get in? I know the deadline isn't for a couple weeks, but if the spots are filled, it could be worthless to bother applying. I'm a TASP rejectee looking for a summer program to fill my time -- ANY program will do, pretty much. I'd like one that begins in mid-July. SSP seems to be one of only a few that fit that criteria, however.

Sorry, this is the Summer Science Program thread. The deadline for this has LONG past. I believe you're referring to the Harvard SSP (Secondary School Program), whose deadline is in a couple of weeks.

Regarding Harvard SSP, the program is pretty uncompetitive, so you'll probably get in. I doubt Harvard SSP has selected all of its students.

Oh yeah...Harvard SSP is major expensive. So if you can afford it...

Why didn't you apply to it before?

...

Damnit why do people keep thinking our thread is some other variant of SSP OTHER THAN THE SSP-SUMMER SCIENCE PROGRAM. The creator of this thread shoulda put SSP = Summer Science Program: Keep out! or something. This is annoying the frick out of me lol.

Why would anyone want to spend a month in NM? I spent a week in NM/AZ and I thought it was just mehhhh....

Well one of the primary incentives of going to Ojai is just to see Caltech. I don't have many chances of going to the States and I just might as well maximize my time and kill two birds with one stone while I'm there.

Sorry, J M Pham, I did mean Harvard. And I didn't apply before because I was kind of counting on TASP. I was a finalist and had about a 50/50 chance of getting in, so I was just sort of overly optimistic. Thanks, and next time, I won't make the mistake of confusing SSP with HARVARD SSP.

Ahh, are you guys as excited as I am?
I really wish I knew how many people in this list were ACTUALLY attending so we can introduce each other..and stuff...But............shrugs

This is actually my first post here... EVER... its a confusing sight, neh?

I'm going to SSP Soccoro '06! I really have two big things in my life: ballet and math/science, and I've always spent my summers at intense dance programs... so this intense science thing is new to me. I'm glad to hear that there are a few piano players to join me in Soccoro, cause I'm bringing my flute!

Goodluck to those on the waitlist!

Just as a note... I had no idea that there was so much competition for all of these programs. hides face I had to go look up TASP and RSI and MITES and all these other programs everyone is talking about! One day when I was really feeling depressed and hopeless about ever becoming a professional ballet dancer, I googled "summer science programs" and found SSP at the top of the list and decided to apply because it looked like a neat program (I NEVER thought I'd get in). I emailed my teachers and asked for reccomendations and photocopied my test scores and wrote out some quick essays... I had completely forgotten about it all when I got my email from Mr. Bowdon telling me I was accepted! I can't dance this summer, at least, not 8 hours a day, 6 days a week because I'm recovering from an injury (even though I got great merit scholarship to a really good program cries) so I'm REALLY glad I applied, and I'm really excited to meet all of you!

wow thats long... I just thought I'd introduce myself waves

Hello Hannah ^^
We (JM Pham and I...at the same time...inadvertently) created a thread for introductions and stuff.......
We would love to see you there, on that thread because it would be AWESOME getting to know each other.
