ladros-no its not gustavio chen, and i resent u for making that comment :)

simfish-normally i wouldnt send just anyone my app, but i guess since u definetely were the most motivated on this board, and if u promise not to jack any of the ideas or anything for future apps, ill send it to u
u can see my stats in the app itself

I have taken algebra, geometry, algebra II and am now in pre-calc -all honors classes. My high school doesn’t offer programming classes but I know some stuff.

Also there has not been a physics class for several years- if I could get nine other people to sign up the school board has to appoint a teacher but I would estimate only about three people a year are seriously interested in such a class.

My passion is flight- man made flying objects specifically. Anything that has to do with aviation gets my attention. I know SSP is not directly related to aviation but astromony is a very important subject in itself.

Hello everyone. I applied to SSP too. I submitted my application the day of the deadline, but one of my teacher recs didn't get sent until the monday after. I guess I'll be judged in the second round because of that. Haven't heard from them yet, but I'm getting a bit anxious.

STATS:

Asian Male (Chinese) - Junior
North Carolina School of Science and Math (Residential magnet school, supposedly best in state?)

PSAT: 220 (80, 67, 73)

This year's classes:
AP Calc
Physics
Astrophysics
Research in Physics
Molecular Genetics

Wrote my essay on the In science there is only physics; the rest is stamp collecting quote and did the additional supplement. I requested to be in the California one, we'll see how that goes if I'm accepted.

Well, we're on a trimester schedule so I can take more classes but less time is spent in each class so you can't really compare. Astro and molecular genetics for example, are both one trimester classes.

And yeah, Astrophysics is really cool. Actually, I just like physics in general (can you tell?). I'll be taking advanced modern physics next year.

Your the first SSPer aside from J-D that I will get to know! I am also going to the New Mexico one, hope I get to know you well. Did you get your acceptance packet today? Its pretty interesting stuff. Read over all the stuff you need to bring, and you can get an idea of stuff we're going to do.

Here is a passage for everyone-

Code of Conduct

The Code of Conduct specifically forbids any of the following:

k) Inappropriate intimate behavior with others. There are cirumstances under which mild displays of affection for other Program participants may be appropriate. But, while recognizing that adolescence is the time when people move toward intimate relationships, the Program does not offer its participants the time, the privacy, or the emotional support necessary for the establishment of serous and mature relationships..nor does it wish to do so. The Program expects that students will refrain from inappropriate intimate bahavior with others and assumes that parents and guardians support that expectation. Participants should consider any behavior with any other person to be inappropriate if, at that time and location and under those circumstances, it would likely be embarassing or otherwise objectionable to either person's parents if any of them observed it.

LOL.

Ladros

PS- Mary, do you know any aside from people on this forum that are going to socorro?

Hello, I am smurf's friend, and I'm accepted to Ojai. Rahrah, I guess I'll be meeting you there ^_^ So is there anybody else accepted to Ojai?

And simfish, you have a great chance next year, since your stats are quite similar to mine, and your essay was as good if not better than mine. The only difference seems to be that I have a slightly higher SAT score and that I'm a junior this year, so there's no need to feel too bad...

GJ Sigh! Hey, where are you located in Taiwan and what school do you go to? My relatives live in Taiwan and looking at my cousin, it's rare that someone can write so well in english. Everyone who got into SSP, we should make a huge site displaying all our pics and experiences. It's still early though....

Everyone hang in there! still hope! GL to all.

Those who have gotten in. Let's make up some ideas for nicknames like JD said. It'll be fun.

I'm from Taichung and go to an American school in the area (me oasis, and smurf attend the same school). My nationality is American, though I'm Chinese.

Oasis, good luck. Even if you don't get in this year, there's a high chance to get in next year...

oasis?..get in to SSP?...are you kidding me?...
never in a million yrs.....
hahaha..jk...
ure chances are...lowww tho...i mean..seriously..3 students from a dinky christian school in Taiwan?....highly unlikely...
especially..hah. ure a sophomore. better luck nex time!
im putting my money on a rejection.....:)
