Yes, I’m applying as a junior.
Thanks for the response! And don’t worry I’m a junior transfer also. Is anyone else applying from a community college?
Question: How does Stanford release admissions decisions at the same time as other schools when their deadline was two weeks later?
I am a junior transfer from NY community college. Seems like we have as many junior transfers as sophomore transfers.
@jellymuffin Most of the schools I am applying to accepted apps till March 15, and are releasing decisions on mid-May as well.
Welp… the wait till May 15 is going to be grueling. Good luck to all.
@rebmob True, the rate is really low but I have my hopes up.
I’m in a bit of a dilemma in that Pepperdine wants my enrollment confirmation by May 1. Stanford decisions come out May 15. Should I ask Pepperdine for an extension? Will they do that?
@jonuni94 Asking doesn’t hurt. But if they say no, you may want to put deposit in and wait for Stanford’s decision. If you get in, you can simply tell Pepperdine that you won’t enroll. The only thing with this is that you won’t get your deposit back.
My suggestion: Enroll and then if you get Stanford, just un-enroll at Pepperdine. I’m assuming you will lose the enrollment fee but what is it, about $100?
@lindyk8 Yep, I’m going to do that! The enrollment fee is $750 for Pepperdine I think :-/
Yikes. It’s $100 at the UCs.
Thinking about transferring next year! Any tips guys/gals?
@silverwind If I, or someone on this thread are admitted as a transfer, we’ll give you some tips!
@jellymuffin yes. My boyfriend applied as a junior transfer from a CA community college. He has a 4.0 and is going for either mechanical or astronautical engineering. He’s a 30 year old first time college student. I know Stanford has ridiculously, comically low admissions for transfers, but we are all rooting for him
lol I applied too. Not feeling hopeful. Oh well, I was accepted to the summer session. I may or may not do that depending on if I get into UCSC or UCI xD. I’ve already been rejected from UCD and UCLA, but my essays were crap for the UC’s. My common app writing supplements were way stronger but idk. I may have to end up going to a CSU unless SCU or Pitzer accept me. Fingers crossed, but doubts are high.
Hey guys, arbs checking in. Getting nervous as decision time gets closer, but what can you expect from a -2% acceptance rate right? Hopefully college confidential works it’s magic and a couple of us get in :).
I am applying from CA CC. 3.93 GPA. But above 4.0 weighted (which is Stanford applicable). Econ major. Played college basketball before getting hurt. Good rec letters. Great Volunteer. Great essays. And a great personal letter. Goodluck guys. Do you know if May 15 is the date they reslease all letters? Or will they start before…? I cannot wait much longer! Also I geared my Common App to Stanford solely. Do you think that helps? I think it does because they probably assume that if you are applying to transfer to Stanford, you are also applying to Harvard, Yale, and other top-tier schools. And they do not want to admit somebody who will decline their admittance. My thoughts. Excuse me for any spelling errors or grammar errors, Siri is talking
What do you mean by 4.0 weighted? Previous years, they’ve released decisions early, maybe 4-5 days early. Not to sure about this year. What do you mean by tailoring common app? You can submit your common app for one college, then completely change it when submitting to another, so don’t know what you mean by that.
Stanford lets A+s count higher than a 4.0. They count as a 4.3 or something. At state schools (CC, UCs, and CSUs) they count the same as an A (a 4.0). I have a bunch. And I have heard that if you sumbit more than 1 common app the schools can see. But I am not sure about that statement’s validity.
But like I said, I could be 100% wrong. But no other Private schools were worth the student debt anyway, haha. So UCLA is a good second choice. Thank god for the UC system
