Let the waiting game begin. Really disappointed to be deferred but hey at least we all get another chance thank god for that
So can we send updated test scores or nah?

NOT ALL DEFERRALS ARE CREATED EQUAL
The largest disparity between Stanford, Princeton, Harvard and Yale existed with regards to the percentage of students deferred and rejected. Early applicants to Harvard, Princeton and Yale were significantly more likely to be deferred than rejected, with deferral rates of 68.1 percent, 78.9 percent, and 57.6 percent respectively. Stanford, however, only deferred 8.5 percent of early applicants. While Princeton and Harvard rejected 1.3 and 7.8 percent of early applicants, respectively, and Yale rejected 25.8 percent of applicants, Stanford rejected 80.7 percent of their applicants.
Taylor said these differences are likely reflective of the volume of applications received by each of these schools.
“In the early rounds, Stanford just likes to get kids off the hook,” she said. “They know in the regular round, they’re going to have so many applications that they just won’t want to go back to see anyone who doesn’t have an absolutely stellar application.”
Hughes said he tells students deferred by Stanford that a deferral is a very good sign, because the school is signifying its willingness to closely reexamine the applicant in the spring. He added that at a school such as Princeton, deferred applicants could not infer anything from their decision. But a rejection from Princeton as an early applicant, on the other hand, is a strong indicator that the student is likely aiming too high with his or her college choices, Hughes said.
So I’m a junior and was deferred from Stanford. I’m not sure if that’s good… My counselor said that they defer most strong applicants who are juniors because they want to see how well they do in their APs (since I’m taking most of my APs this year). She also said that since I have a patent pending, they’ll want to see if I get the patent or not.
stay positive everyone! we got this
Does anyone know if deferring a legacy is just a courtesy? Do they ever actually reject one during REA?
@stlgirl1999 yes they often reject legacy REA applicants. Stanford does notice out “courtesy” deferrals, if you got deferred it means they are seriously willing to consider you
I just realized I put this posting on the wrong discussion. I hope it’s ok I’m posting it here. Here goes…My S applied early action to Stanford but never got an email or the link to the portal. His app was definitely submitted because there’s a green checkmark and says it was downloaded. He’ll call Stanford Monday but he’d feel so much better if he can check the portal. If anyone can send me the link to stanfords portal that would be wonderful. Thank you!
Here is more about deferrals:

A Stanford deferral means you were really close.
@tigermommy I believe the links that they send to each student for the portal access are different
Does anyone know if we have to send mid-year reports? or letters? I can’t find anywhere if Stanford allows these kinds of things
¯_(ツ)_/¯ i’ve been trying to figure that out too @callmegray i guess all we fill out is the optional form with all our updated awards
@Hoggirl: Awesome link.
@callmegray I got deferred last year, and my counselor sent in a mid-year report (but I didn’t send any extra letters)
^ Did you get in?
I was so nervous yesterday and now we’re back to that haha
does anyone know if the official stats have been published yet? I know last year they were published the same day decisions came out…
@blobtown Yes I got in!
@hellolo This year, they’re not releasing the stats until after RD decisions are out: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/stanford-university/1944287-stanford-not-releasing-rea-admit-numbers-yet-all-data-will-be-released-after-rd.html
Also deferred, along with someone else at my school (that I know of, maybe more.) Does it seem to you guys that there might have been a lot more deferrals this year? I don’t think Stanford has gone the way of Harvard et al., but from these boards it seems like there are a lot. I hope the numbers are in line with the percentages of years past and not markedly different (like 1200 deferrals or something.) Thoughts?
