Sigh. I just looked it up and UIL Regional competitions will be on the same days as Admit Weekend (22nd-24th) I’m not sure how many Texas residents that affects, but I’m not sure what to do.

UIL Regionals vs Stanford Admit Weekend?!

C’mon Affe, is that even a question? (Assuming Stanford is your #1)

(Though I am also very involved in UIL)

Stanford is my #1, but the Admit Weekend falls under the planned date for my school’s senior prom, and possibly also my school’s musical production (in which I play a principal role). Hopefully, the band program’s Spring/Aloha Concert isn’t on the same weekend. Decisions, decisions . . .

I wonder if I could arrive a day late to Admit Weekend.

you can arrive late. or two days late, as most of the activities are on Saturday, but you can arrive as early as Thursday

@Rolandic

Stanford is my #1 for sure! I wish it was just me whom it would affect. However, our computer science team has a very good chance of winning a 3rd consecutive state championship (which would be a first in our division). Plus I should be able to pull off another individual gold as well. Our team is composed of all newbies beside me, so my experience is greatly needed. I can’t leave my team hanging even for Stanford. (That was hard to say :/) Oh dang it. This sucks!

I’ll guess I’ll just be happy with my admission and worry about the rest later!

@Affe,

Well if it’s a team effort, then yeah I’d say stick with UIL, I think you’ll be filled in on Orientation anyway; so you’re in Computer science? I’m in Number Sense!

I was finally able to look up my financial aid package. It is not exactly what I expected, but still very, very generous: my parents will only need to come up with $4000 a year, and I only need to earn $2000. That’s basically the outside scholarship money I’m already guaranteed, plus the money that they spend on food for me anyway. Virtually a full ride. :****)

Also, my admissions officer called me! She seemed very nice, and complimented my essays for their creativity, though only in a vague terms. I’m thinking maybe they didn’t have time for the personalized notes on the letters this year, since they were released in such an apparent rush, so she decided just to call her admits instead. I felt like I should have said something other than “Thanks!” again and again, but I still appreciated the sentiment. :****)

^ Good to hear everything seems to be working out great for you.

We get notes/calls from admissions?

Even though admit weekend is over my birthday and one of my favorite school events of the year, I’m definitely going!

And I have not submitted my CSS yet… Is that a bad thing?

Lucky! I wish I had gotten a call from mine…

i wish i got one too

but i would actually prefer a letter to a phone call.

who knows wat mine will do. last year the personalized notes that some got didnt get sent until early january

will i possibly not get one because i committed alredy?
i want a personal note either way :)

Okay, I checked my old phone, and I realized I had a voicemail from the admissions officer i got today

Any international admits?

Yup. I’m from Slovenia. Does anyone know whether they send out the personalized stuff for internationals as well? I still haven’t received anything in the mail (I guess it takes a little bit longer to make its way to Europe)

I’m from Indonesia. yes, they send out the pack for us as well, I received it yesterday…

Finally got my thick letter and call from the admissions officer today! I’m so siked…

Just wondering, did anyone in the >$200,000 income bracket get any aid on their estimate? I think Stanford says they have a cap on the income…

I didn’t get a call from my admissions officer yet! :(

And I hope you mean the admit package when you said thick letter (instead of a personalized letter from your adcom as well) :(

I got a call too!

Today was epic. I got my packet in the mail, put my sticker onto my car, and then came back inside. Once i got back in, my phone started ringing, and I got the call! ^_^
