@kath00 Haha I do the same thing. I check in these threads almost as often as I check Instagram
Couldn’t relate more!
Does anyone know how we receive the notification next Friday?
Are we going to receive a prompt to view the admissions decision on the Stanford portal? An email?
@alr33zy WAIT, NEXT FRIDAY? I thought the thing said results come out on the 15th?? And I thought we just got letters, but perhaps the portal changes on the day of results?
@SingHar17 In past years, they’ve apparently released the results on the second Friday of December, which would be Dec. 9 this year.
@alr33zy I didn’t know that! And… I’m anxious again.
I know that we definitely get an email with the decision (before we get the envelope in the mail), so I don’t see why showing the acc./rej./def. status in the portal would be necessary if the email is already sent out?
I don’t have any SAT II tests (I didn’t realize they were even recommended). Do you guys think this will significantly affect me??
@jlt123 - perhaps a disadvantage - but it is optional and is just one part of your whole app.
Cool, I think my ACT should partly offset that (35 composite), so that makes me feel good
Hey guys, just curious, what SAT scores (SAT I and subject tests) do REA applicants on this page have? Share them on the thread!
ACT 34
Korean +Listening 790
US History 790
Math 2 790
so weird
May as well wait and share stats on the results thread next week.
This wait sucks
I had a 34 superscore on the ACT and then took Physics and Math 2 last minute and got 800 on both
But Stanford also says that those who don’t take the SAT subject tests aren’t at a disadvantage, which doesn’t make a ton of sense…
If those who take it are at an advantage, that would technically put those who didn’t at a disadvantage… whatever haha
Supplemental essays were probably the weakest part of my app :-/
But at least I tried to be genuine! I hope they like that (I didn’t try to brag too much or anything)
Also how important is an additional letter of rec? I had an employer who said he’d write one for me, but apparently it never got submitted? I guess I’m wondering if most applicants submit an additional letter of rec…
@CuriousBobby It all depends. If the Letter of Rec could have highlighted qualities that weren’t covered by your application, it can help. If the Letter of Rec would have just repeated information that were extensively covered in your application already, it’s waste of the admission counselor’s time.
Also, a generic letter of rec would probably not help
@CuriousBobby It’s fine. The two past accepted students from my school over the last couple years didn’t have an additional rec. letter.
Since essays seem to be a little more heavily weighted at Stanford than the other Ivies (IMO), did you guys take any risks? My supps were pretty good but I think my CA essay is the best part of my app.
@CiteYourSources No risks at all, just presented myself normally.
I think the letter of rec serves more to validate what you’ve said in your application.
Think about it – these are the only statements written on your behalf that the admission officers will see from an exterior source (unless you also had an interview, but I don’t think that’s AS important to Stanford).
