@December9th2016 I did. I just went ahead and reported everything and hoped colleges would appreciate my honesty :)) O:-)
Heh cultural background…
I’m asian and lived in california for my entire life
sad reacts only pls
To try to ease everyone’s stress, I’m pretty sure only the best kids are concerned enough to talk on college confidential all day! haha 5 days.
I’m sure it is not that big of a deal @Chips99 at least your essays are good! Honestly, that’s what matters.
i think we should stop worrying, they’ve probably already made their decision. Only a 5 day wait till we find out!
@alr33zy I’m Chinese, but I lived in Cyprus, went to boarding school in China, then spent 2 years in Canada, before coming to Greece (where I currently am). Also, I’m doing the IBDP.
You guys all have such cool backgrounds! I’ve just lived in one economically disadvantaged area of VA my whole life - at least it’s a hook :))
@December9th2016 I had my rights waived but literally every single teacher insisted I had a copy after we hit submit to use for scholarships and other things, it was a really sweet gesture and I’m quite pleased with them. (I feel so bad for reading them, but it made me feel so special how highly they thought of me!)
@alr33zy Wow your background is really unique! I also agree that everyone on this thread seems to be so exotic, hopefully it fairs well for all of us come this Friday…I was born and raised here in SoCal, so I doubt I have much to offer on that end haha.
@CiteYourSources “.I was born and raised here in SoCal, so I doubt I have much to offer on that end haha.”
same
i feel you =))
@December9th2016 I love that optimism!
@Helium9 I really think the IBDP will help us appeal to Stanford - through both the IB’s academics and “international” frame of mind.
@CiteYourSources Thanks!
@alr33zy I sure hope it will. I’m not sure if not doing a bilingual diploma even though I am pretty much bilingual will hurt me, although, I am doing 4 HLs.
Lived 1.5 hours away from Stanford in an affluent neighborhood my whole life…rip.
@December9th2016 That’s so cool though! Have you ever visited?
@Chips99 Oh Yeah! I go about once every other year. I actually played with my football team on the Stanford football field at halftime of one of their games. That was pretty epic.
@December9th2016 Agreed. Among all the universities I’ve visited, Stanford has the most extraordinary campus.
I took a month-long quantum and particle physics course at Stanford over my junior summer, and was lucky enough to experience the dorm life first-hand.
There’re tons of fantastic things about Stanford (weather, proximity to amazing stuff) but If I may offer a counter about the dorms – my GF was a Stanford student and I visited regularly for about 3 yrs, including spending one summer on campus. I found the campus to be too sprawling and the sense of student community not as great as my school (Yale with its residential colleges). My friends circle was huge – it seemed that my GF and others had smallish friend circles.
Look, Palo Alto weather slams CT weather – no doubt. But I wouldn’t have traded my time in New Haven. Only my two cents- – please don’t carve me up!
Good luck w/your EA wait!
@T26E4 Thanks for the input! I got that sense as well when I stayed on the campus.
Stanford doesn’t look at freshman grades at all, right?
I wish everyone good luck in this last week! Are there any other girls applying to engineering on this thread?
did anyone else apply w music supplement
i wonder if its a plus at stanford
@callmegray I did (flute, if you can’t tell by my username)
