Question…My D17 wants to apply REA but is shows to be non binding…is that correct? He said he can’t apply to any other private school REA has to be Regular and he can apply to public schools regular rolling admissions. Is that correct?
Stanford doesn’t have ED only Restriced Early Action. Your son? (D17 Is not a daughter?) can only apply to public schools and niot any EA or ED private schools. Good luck!
@Multiverse7 …yes you are correct…it is REA…as you can tell I can not multi task very well. Just concerned that S17 doesn’t get himself in a tight spot.
@vasodys ohh thank you!
wait does stanford still recalculate GPAs to exclude electives like PE or dance? PE’s dragging my GPA down this semester lmao
For me, no one at my school gets in and only three people apply.
@Llamma Those are probably the same stats for my whole country
Hey guys just joined CC for this thread. I saw Stanford was on the common app and thought well, “it only takes a little bit of effort to apply, why not see what happens.” I’m personally looking to go into engineering. I’m not sure my stats on paper even compare to some of you (32 on act) but I thought I’d give this school a try. My cousin is getting his masters in engineering there, I wonder if that will boost my chances from 0->0.1% lol. Good luck guys
good luck to u too @hogsaw !!!
hey guys are we allowed to put links in our activities list? i can’t describe the activity well within the character limits and its my like #1 main activity so I want to make sure I do it justice. I was thinking of maybe linking the website of the my organization in the description box? I want to write about something else in the “briefly discuss an extracurricular” question so I can’t just put the full description there.
or maybe should i put the link under the “list your favorite magazines/website/etc” question? idk do you guys think that would make me look obnoxious?
Stanford does have a 150 word prompt where you can elaborate on your activity. Does that answer your question?
You likely already figured this out, but if your school uses Naviance, “teacher” recommenders go through that system, cannot add them to your recommenders list. You can only add “other” recommenders.
@kbn2015 you could put it in the Additional Info section! Lot’s of people put links to websites and stuff there. No guarantee the admissions officers will read it though.
This video interview with Stanford’s top Admissions Officer, Dean Shaw, is worth listening to - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vlRSfcICuNI
Good interview! Working on REA as we speak with my daughter. AAAAH
Hey people again.
I hope you are finishing up on your applications. Time moved so fast

So I have a question. When are we supposed to fill in the CSS profile, for international students especially its very tricky.
