@Harvardgirl21 It was helpful for me too! I was stalking the Harvard SCEA discussions and they actually made a pledge thread which is super helpful for making results on here more representative of the school’s admissions
@ people who are asking about progress reports: they don’t get sent to colleges. If you apply to a college by, for example, November 15th, then only your grades from freshman-junior year get sent. My school, personally, is on the semester system, so only once semester grades are finalized are they (along with the quarter and midterm scores) added to the transcript. So no, Stanford can’t see your senior grades so far (but they will ask for a midyear report if you get accepted REA).
Hey Guys. I was reading last year’s REA discussion. They said they had the result on the 11th, but isn’t the announcement the 15th? Do we get to know it 11th too?
Did anyone else get an email from Stanford telling them the release time and date?
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! My fingers are shaking now!! According to Stanford Twitter, the REA result is coming out 9th 3PM!!!
@SingHar17 that isn’t necessarily true, at my school at least progress reports are definitely sent to private schools if you apply early.
@ayylmaocollege @SingHar17 I asked my guidance counselor about it while she was helping me apply and she said progress reports from senior year could be sent in but they’re optional…
@ayylmaocollege For our area, none of the schools add the quarter grades onto transcripts until the semester has ended, and our counselors/schools don’t send them to where we apply for us either, so, it might be different for you, from our area, progress reports aren’t a thing for colleges.
@SingHar17 That is a relief. Thanks! I know I probably still won’t get in but at least I know it won’t be because of something stupid like that.
@GuardiansOfTheGalaxyFanBoy hey, congratulation!!! How did you get the letter this early?
@chips99 I got my EE and psych and math IAs and TOK essay all due within a week I wanna kms omg
@jql2017 are you taking HL Math??? That’s rough good luck!!
@itfollows2014 haha no my HL classes are English lit, psychology and biology (my school has a rather underdeveloped IB program)
@jql2017 ohh I see! I have no idea how I made it through my math IA last year I wanted to kms every night for a week straight. What are your other IB courses??? Or are you taking like a mix of IB and AP ?
@itfollows2014 I’m doing the whole diploma program thing and at my school you can’t take AP classes with IB so I only took the one allowed AP class in sophomore year (APWH) but right now I’ve got SL film, Japanese, and math studies with the previously mentioned HL classes. I had a very limited selection of IB courses so the mix seems a little odd lol
Guys, just in case you think @GuardiansOfTheGalaxyFanBoy is being serious he’s not lmao, and here’s why:
- Stanford, and all the Ivies (AFAIK) DO NOT SEND OUT LIKELY LETTERS FOR EARLY APPLICANTS. That would mean they read the application and send a letter within a week or two, which would be totally redundant when decisions come out less than a month later (vs. RD where likelies are often sent 2 or more months before official decisions).
- No school in their right mind would send a likely 2 days before official decisions come out.
- Likely via email? Nice try fam.

Do you guys think the admissions officers read applications as they arrive or do they wait for Nov 1st and then consider as a whole? In other words is it advantageous to send application with all materials as early as possible to increase admission chances?
@educationfan i’ve heard they might begin peeking at applications before 11/1 but it will not hurt you to submit on 11/1 (i hope this is true, because i submitted on 11/1 LOL)
@itfollows2014 Talk about it! I have drafts for my HL Math and HL Physics IAs due right before Christmas break… along with my physics EE…
