Stanford Class of 2022 Discussion/Decisions

Accepted! To everyone who got in, congrats and I hope to see you on campus! To those who didn’t, it is okay. I was mentally prepping myself for a rejection. With ivies and Stanford, a good analogy is: there are 100 kids. 30 of them are qualified and absolutely amazing. Yet, the school only has enough room for four or three. It is just based on what they need sometimes. Like a girl in STEM or a boy into literature. It is purely luck at that point. You will do great things no matter where you go. <3

Rejected. I understand that Stanford is extremely selective but I had a lot going for me in high school. Stanford felt like a natural next step for me, as I love their programs. Trying to see past this.

DEFERRED

I just want to say that to all those who were rejected that this was not in anyway a determinant of your worth or value. Everyone is Awesome! I was accepted and am elated, but want you to know that I love people in the cc community and wish you the best. One thing I dislike about the college process is that not everyone wins, but keep your heads held high and look out for those other acceptances.

What does your rejection letter say?

@casualcoyote I understand it must suck a lot but keep in mind that Stanford is not just extremely selective, it is as selective as it can possibly get (along with Harvard). Not making it to Stanford doesn’t mean you will not make it to other top schools.

@ElNero I am very sorry to let you know we are unable to offer you admission to Stanford. This decision in no way diminishes your application, which we know was completed with thoughtfulness and care.

We were inspired by the hopes and dreams your application represents. We were humbled by the talent, commitment, and heart you bring to your academics, extracurricular activities, work, and family responsibilities. Simply put, we wish we had more space in the freshman class.

At every step in our process, from the moment we open an application to its eventual presentation in the admission committee, we bring the highest level of consideration to our decisions. Ultimately, these difficult decisions are made with conviction and clarity, and we do not conduct an appeal process.

As a possible way to help you work through your thoughts at this time, I want to share an article I wrote several years ago for the Los Angeles Times. You may also want to visit our page of frequently asked questions for answers about our admission process.

Thank you for applying to Stanford. We enjoyed learning about you, and we know you will thrive wherever your education takes you.

With very best wishes,

Richard H. Shaw
Dean of Admission and Financial Aid

Accepted. Still in shock.

Accepted!!! It really feels so surreal! For future applications, remember everyone has their own unique circumstances that Stanford considers individually. If you think Stanford is a fit for you, don’t be discouraged from applying!

Congratulations to those who are accepted, can you post your stats so that other people who are applying regular
will get some idea on how much chances they have. I know with regular decision the pool will be much larger but at least people applying in regular decision will get some idea. Students who got rejected please don’t get dishearten, there is a saying "If things happen as per your wish it is good for you and you are happy. If things happen as per God’s wish and if he has chosen you to follow a specific path, it is more better for you "

I’ll post my stats in the other forum just for decisions

RD applicant here. Congrats to everyone who got accepted! For the “what do you read, listen to, or watch” question, did y’all list your favorite books for the “read” part or did you do newspapers, websites, etc? Thanks and good luck to my fellow RD applicants
