Anybody got an email for an interview yet?
Yup! Im having my interview this weekend!
Has anybody in Atlanta gotten an email interview?
Anyone from India got interview?
@whatsmypassword I’m from India, not contacted yet for an interview(!
Did any one from Chicago area get the interview?
Not yet.
If we haven’t gotten an interview, is there any way to ask for one? Or should I not worry?
Did every international student receive an email containing a CSS profile fee waiver code and a request for a Certification of finances?
@Obed625 I’m international but have already submitted both, so no
@kimtaehyung do not worry. My son had an interview last night and the Alumni member said they interview where they have alumni volunteers who are willing to do so. She told him that most applicants do not have an interview because they simply do not have the alumni to cover everyone. She also said it really has no bearing on the application - its totally optional and for information purposes only - but her notes would be on file if the student was “on the bubble” and that would help make a decision. I think there are very few “on the bubble” appliants, with a 4% acceptance rate.
My son will have a face to face interview next week in NYC.
@kimtaehyung don’t worry, that means there isn’t an interviewer available near you
@waiting4rejects i have mine next weekend too, let me know questions they ask you please.
you guys are ‘likely letters’ a thing for stanford
Folks: stop using the ‘4%’ figure. Hardly, if anyone, actually has a 4% chance. It’s either a lot more or significantly less. To use the old statistics saw that illustrates how incomplete a mean can be in understanding precisely what’s happening, a guy with a foot in a boiling bucket of water and the other in one that’s freezing says ‘on average, I feel pretty good’.
@lozaos Likely letters aren’t a thing. The first and only time you find out you get in is via update to the application portal. A few days after you get accepted they mail out these red Stanford folders with a printed our copy of your acceptance letter, a brochure for Admit Weekend, and a little Stanford sticker. I think there’s a good video of someone unboxing it and talking about what happens after you get in on YT.
@mitochondria223 - Actually, likely letters are a thing – just not a widespread thing. I know two Stanford freshmen that received “likely” letters; neither were recruited athletes, but both were quite compelling candidates.
@LoveTheBard what made them ‘compelling’ ?
They were both very strong candidates (in addition to S, they were both accepted to one or more among the HYPMC). They had interesting backgrounds and compelling backstories. (One was a high scoring AA engineering student with a lot of ECs who had recently lost his dad; the other was a brilliant writer that was physically disabled.) Both had received multiple awards.
